The best, most comfortable mouse I've ever used
For the past couple of years, I've been using the Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555) and while the keyboard was pretty decent, the mouse has an ambidextrous design (not really ideal for comfort) and felt overall kind of cheap. On top of that, the wireless adapter was cheap and liked to randomly cut out, which sucks really bad when you're playing anything fast-paced like a FPS or an MMO like WoW (I play a lot of Arenas). So I decided that I needed a new mouse. I narrowed down to this and the Razer Imperator Ergonomic Laser Gaming Mouse, and I chose this.PROS:-Very comfy ergonomic right-handed design, and a really unique rough texture on the left thumb area.-Less expensive than the Imperator, but with the same polling rate, max DPI, and user-programmable buttons-Adjustable weights. Comes with a little tin box, with five 4.5g and five 1.7g weights and a cartridge to install them inside the mouse.-Easily adjustible DPI, with a set of LEDs that indicate 5 possible different settings, each of which you can change in SetPoint. I use it at 800DPI most of the time, and for shooters (I really like Tribes: Ascend), I use 1600DPI. I always use 1000Hz polling - why wouldn't you?-This one's odd - a little button below the scroll wheel. One option makes it click when you spin it, like a normal mouse, and the other removes all friction and it spins smoothly. Unsure of the practical use for it, but it's hard to accidentally click, which is great.-Works well with either palm or claw grip. I use a combination of both, and it works fine.-3 year warranty, so I definitely have peace-of-mind should anything happen. To provide some perspective, the Imperator has a 2-year warranty.CONS:-Unfortunately, even if you have the scroll wheel set to click, it has a little bit less friction than a regular scroll wheel. I'd rather it go click-by-click really well, then have the option at all. This is minor though, because when I spin the wheel, I keep my finger on it so it's not actually spinning, per se.-Even after my first day of use, the teflon feet are showing a decent amount of wear. I play on a wood veneer surface which has a little bit of roughness, but I still would have liked to see the feet be a little more resilient. What ultimately sold me on this over the Imperator was the weights. The Imperator felt simply too light for me to feel like I had precise control over it. When I have the heaviest weight possible in my G500, it's about right - not too light, but not too heavy. And the price point is a decent clip better than the Imperator, so I definitely felt less of a pain in my wallet when I hit Place Order. (I may be a little too frugal..) Overall, I made the right choice. Hoping that this mouse will last me a good few years to come!

Fantastic Gaming Mouse!!!
This is a supreme gaming mouse, for the cost-conscious gamer! It is a laser mouse, which means it is much more precise than an optical mouse, and with the adjustable, on-the-fly DPI, it means you can adjust as needed, even in-game. For PC Gamers this is a fantastic in all game types: FPS (you can adjust aim sensitivity on the fly), RTS (helps with scroll speed when you want to scroll quicker, or need to be precise with commanding units), and RPG (helps scrolling, and so on).I play all types of games on the PC, so having this adjustable DPI is phenomenal. I will give you an actual game example. In Mass Effect 2, a great deal of your survivability on the harder difficulty levels depends on your ability to mine resources from planets you scan. This can be tedious and slow because when you scan planets you right click to scan and left click to fire a mining probe to gather resources. But here is the catch, the movement of your mouse cursor (representing the scanner) is reduced by probably 75%+ - it is wickedly slow. Even with the ship upgrade you can buy to help improve the speed at which you can scan, it is still tedious and really really slow! However, with the adjustable DPI I can set it to the highest DPI when I go into the scanning/mining mode in Mass Effect 2, and the scan scroll speed is normal, if not faster than normal. It is great!I also use the Eagle Eye Converter for the PS3 - which basically acts as a KB/Mouse converter for the PS3, allowing you to use a keyboard and mouse to play games on the PS3. For us PC converts who have more friends playing on the consoles than PC =P And yes, it is an unfair advantage hahaha. But the G500 is one of the compatible mice, and it works GREAT! Had to fine-tune the deadzones and sensitivity to get the feel right, but I'd say it is about 90% 1:1 of a PC experience! All in all, I love my G500 mouse and it is good looking, comfortable, and has great customizability, and it wasn't more the $50!!! As compared to many gaming mice that cost $100-$200!!!
