This is not the full movie
I was fortunate in having seen the full (not sensitized) version of Quest For Fire, WOW !!! It is a gripping amazing movie. I rate this as one of the best movies I have ever seen. You will especially enjoy the movie if you enjoy watching documentaries about monkeys, baboons and gorillas, their behavior and power structure. The only reason I give this movie (still very good and well worth watching) is, this is a reduced / sensitized / edited version and you do not have the option, to watch the complete (producer's ?) version. This is one of those movies a person can watch more than once.

Excellent
I saw this movie many years ago and it impressed me just as much this time round. Very clever acting of Ape like body language as directed by Desmond Morris, a brilliant Anthropologist. Considering there was very little language used, the overall portrayal of the desolate and dangerous life our ancestors lived had tremendous impact and I thoroughly recommend this film.

Great movie memory
I totally forgot about this movie after seeing it years ago and when I was reminded of it by a friend I didn’t hold out much hope of finding it available today. But here it is and it’s pretty much how I remembered it. A pretty good story idea that is a bit dated in its execution by today’s standards. Nonetheless I enjoyed watching it immensely.

A great and largely unknown film that Jean-Jacques Annaud struggled to make. A good transfer, and the DVD has two excellent commentaries (rare in the days of Blu-Ray). Enjoy. My review is based on the PAL/Region 2 DVD, released on 25th September 2006.
