Incredible value, when on sale
This machine is an incredible value for the performance of a current generation Ryzen 7 with dual-channel RAM and an SSD. It's thin as a Macbook, faster than my Intel work laptop I was just issued a few months ago, and is feature packed with Bluetooth, touchscreen, Windows 10, and incredible gaming graphics for a laptop thanks to the Vega 10 GPU. I haven't upgraded the RAM yet, currently using the OEM 8gb + 4gb stick configuration, but it looks like this machine can handle a max of 32gb (16gb x 2) according to HP.My only complaints are the 720p screen instead of 1080p, but that can be resolved by plugging in a 1080p display to the full-size HDMI adapter plug, which this laptop handles fine. The fan on the machine can get a little loud, pushing air through the same holes above the keyboard that the speakers are in. But when high-CPU usage lowers, the fan goes down to a whisper. The keys feel a little cheap and aren't backlit, but also something that can be resolved with a Bluetooth or other wireless type of keyboard/mouse combo if you plan on working late at night with a 2nd screen anyway. There are also only two USB ports, both on the left side, and certain USB dongles may make it hard to access the second one. But that can also be resolved with a cheap USB hub, or using Bluetooth peripherals that don't require a separate dongle. That seems like a lot of complaints, but they are each and all minor in comparison to just how solid the performance of this laptop is for the price. If you can find it open box or refurbished, save a couple hundred bucks for a nearly new device and even better value.

Fast and Furious
First off, I bought this to replace a Dell Inspiron 5500 (I7, 8th generation w/1920*1080 15.6" touchscreen) that I thought had died. I managed to repair it and I was going to send this one back but decided to compare the two since the Ryzen 7 and I7 are similarly benchmarked. Let me say there is no comparison. From a 10 second Windows boot-up to almost instant loading of apps, to incredibly fast gaming (CIV 6, the video hog, running at over 48 FPS), this laptop was a steal for $600. I don't even notice the lower screen resolution. The Ryzen 7 cooks (I always liked AMD processors better). In short, my daughter gets a surprise gift of my clunky Dell. Highly recommend this. Also, wait to buy the Care package as they offer a discount if you do it after registering your laptop. Three years for $80 means I can drink my coffee while working without worrying about spills. I can;t say enough good things about this machine. its a compact, fiery, lightweight work of art!

Get the insurance with this one. Makes a good desktop replacement. Quick!
Well I don't use it outside very much. Someone said coffee destroys it and I didn't know about that when I got mine. But good thing I bought the 4 years of insurance for 100 when I got mine so I am good there. This laptop is quick! Nice numeric keypad. I run a dual boot of Linux Mint and Windows 10 on mine. Linux Mint was the only distribution that seems to work well on it. Detected the onboard internet and graphics and sound and Bluetooth works. Internet worked after hooking up a different WiFi card and downloading the driver Linux Mint found the driver for me. I had a desktop but it quit on me. I can fix computers, mainly desktops, not very good at fixing laptops but got this instead of rebuilding my desktop. I am happy with the purchase. I browse the web, check email, play a few older games on it. Listen to music, and even ran bluestacks which can run android games and this laptop does all of that pretty well.

Quick but awful display / durability
I enjoyed the laptop why it lasted. Be forewarned, the laptop's durability is awful. Some spilled coffee is all it takes to destroy it. If that is important, you might want to get something else a bit more sturdy. Also, the screen quality was poor. Outdoor use was terrible because of screen brightness. The laptop was practically usable on a sunny day outdoors. That said, the internal hardware was quick, ran apps very well, and the unit is sold at a bargain for the price. A mixed bag for sure...

Great Computer
Great computer, very fast. Currently running Linux on the machine as the main OS. This machine has no ethernet connection, only wifi. The only weak area (for the Linux machine) is the wireless card (Realtek RTL8821CE). The wireless card driver had to be updated before the wireless card would work. This may or may not be a problem depending on which Linux distro is being used. A USB to ethernet adapter was used to establish a wired connection, which allowed updating the OS and the wireless card driver.
