Works well draining out water butts

It was useful for pumping out water in a "soak away" we had dug and the foundations of the extension I am building. The only issue is that it will only pump water if it is over an inch (2.54 cm) probably nearer 2 inches deep. There again all the other pumps I looked at were the same. Definitely achieved what I bought it for and was good value. A lot cheaper than hiring one.

Good pump, had issues with garden flooding and pumped approximately 4 inches away (10 feet by 10 feet) in under 20 minutes. Only issue was priming you have to make sure pump is fully covered with water for it to self prime. Dug an hole and placed pump in that. Not sure what pump would do against a big uplift in height as nearly level pumping to drain

I bought this to use as a sump pump to stop occasional flooding after heavy rain. It's now installed in a plastic dustbin (B&Q), cut to the depth of the hole I dug, and is fed by two lengths of perforated land drainage pipe (also B&Q). It has a 20 metre length outlet hose (38mm black corrugated plastic, seperate purchase via Amazon) connected and that runs to the nearest drain. The total "rise" (pump to drain) is about 2 metres.The pump automatically switches on when the water draining into the plasic bin gets to a certain level and it pumps the water out remarkably quickly. It's very efficient and does a great job.In my case, because of the length of outlet hose and "rise", it wasn't able to totally extract water from the hose into the drain, and quite a bit flowed back into the pump so it all started again. Solved that by inserting a non-return valve into the hose near the pump. It means there is still water in the hose, but that's no big deal as it will pump out when the pump kicks off again. A shorter length outlet and smaller rise would almost certainly make a non-return valve unnecessary.The length of mains cable (8m) attached to the pump was very welcome.I asked a couple of questions on Amazon and got speedy answers from the seller. I also emailed the seller for some support on the float arm and got a fast reply.For the price, functionality and support, it's worth the 5 stars I've given it.December 2021 - an addition to my review.The pump has decided not to turn off after pumping water out, so has been running dry. It still works but continues to run despite my fiddling with the float arm. I asked the seller for any advcie and they've responded by sending me a brand new pump. Super customer service, well done!!

Easy to setup and use, decent suction, however poor handle design. Handle clips into the top of the unit but isnt that secure and disconects from main unit under the weight of the main pump housing. lifting pump out of water adds additional weight to unit and thus handle disconnects even easier. subsequently this happened many time to mine which resulted in said pump falling from waist height onto concrete and cracking the pump housing, so no longer a sealed unit and not usable. shame about poor handle design as it did everything i needed it to do.

I brought this in 2021 only used twice before being stored away.I got it out to use a few weeks ago and it just had broke, the customer service was amazing and gave me a full refund.Customer service is perfect.Maybe I just got a dodgy one (this can happen) but overal impressed with customer service but it did initially do what I wanted.

This is my second pump. works for 12 hours a day. Lasted 18 months. Not bad

I have a standard hozelock hose, so if you're using it with a standard hoze be aware it doesn't fit. You'll need a 22-24mm hose adapter with a jubilee clip on.
