This Halloween season, your child can scare all of the villagers while bringing the legend of Sleepy Hollow to life in this Kids Headless Horseman Costume! The name Ichabod Crane is inextricably linked in literature with the Headless Horseman, and a few people who haven't read Washington Irving's actual story may mistakenly think that Crane WAS the Headless Horseman. He wasn't. Ichabod was the schoolmaster in the fictional village of Sleepy Hollow, and he encountered the Headless Horseman, believed to be the ghost of a Hessian mercenary from the Revolutionary War, while riding late at night back to the village from a party at an outlying farm. He had made a proposal of marriage to the farmer's daughter, and had been rejected. He was never seen in Sleepy Hollow again. The next morning his unsaddled horse was found wandering, the saddle trampled, and a smashed pumpkin lying alongside Crane's hat beside the road. Wear this ensemble with your own black pants. And for a more realistic touch, carry one of our pumpkins as a prop. Everyone will want to escape this spooky creature whose head was blown off by a Revolutionary War cannonball! - Shirt w/ attached cape - Headpiece - Inflatable shoulder component

Same costume found at mass retailers, for almost half the price
This item was exactly as I expected, thanks to the reviews of others. The costume arrived at my door less than a week from placing the order with standard shipping, and the seller shipped the item out within two business days. I ordered a size small for my son, who typically wears a size 6. The costume was slightly big on him, but no more than what I would expect for a size 6-8. It fit no differently than any other costume in that size has fit him, so any size discrepancies others seem to have had do not seem to be any different from those you'd expect for an item that covers that range. That being said, my son is on the smaller side and is only about 45" tall, and wore a shirt underneath. So if your child is a size 8 and on the tall or husky side, you may want to size up, especially if you're in a colder area where they'll need to wear layers.I had no issues with the inflatable pieces. They filled and stayed intact the entire night, even when my son decided to go into the bounce house with it on. I did loosely tie the bottom ties to the top ties, which helped to minimize slipping. I would watch your child closely regardless of whether you do this, because it does tie around the neck and could possibly present a choking hazard. We had no such issues. The mask fit fairly well to be a little big. It was creased from being packaged, but I followed the enclosed instructions to "iron" it with a blow dryer, and the problem was resolved to my liking. The only problem was the neck part, which covers the face and lower part of the mask. The material was too thick for my son to see well through or to breathe through. At first, he just pulled it down in between houses, but this was too difficult to keep doing. However, the mask was designed with eyeholes, so he finally pulled the mask down enough to keep his eyes and nose out. Because his face was still partially obscured, he was satisfied that he still looked scary enough. I think that modifying the material on this part of the costume would go a long way towards making this costume work better. All in all, I was very satisfied with the purchase. It was cheaper than a costume at a retail store. In recent years, a child's costume can run twice as much as this, and I've always had to wait for a sale. Unfortunately, that runs the risk of a costume being sold out. This year, my son got to be exactly what he wanted to be, and I didn't have to pay twice as much. I thought at first I would have to make this costume for him (at a local costume store it was at least $40), but this cost no more than material and supplies would have cost, and saved me countless hours of constructing, sewing, and cursing. Bonus.I would order from this seller again. The costume I received was no different in quality from the costumes I've bought in other years from mass retailers like Wal-mart or Target, and the price and availability was much better. The free shipping just solidified my choice, although I admit, I was not looking forward to taking my children into the store and enduring the joy of trying to help reach a decision. I got exactly what I wanted, I paid less, shipping was free, and I didn't have to suffer costume aisle hell. Completely worth it.

Small details left me underwhelmed, but the seller is awesome.
The costume fitted my 48lbs, 3'9" 6 y/o kid perfectly. With boots on, the cape is about 1/2 over the floor. The headpiece is a very detailed and anatomically correct cross-section of a human neck for those who love gory details. However, there were some small details that made me deduct a couple stars. First, it was the inflatable piece that goeas over the chest and shoulders. It has 3 air bladders and one of the shoulder valves came defective. It is impossible to use as is, because that piece makes everything else fit appropiately. I was left to improvise on a solution for it(more on that later). The other issue is that the velcro strip on the back of the latex/ruber "neck" piece, bled black ink into the neck. I know; its a small cosmetic issue, but at this price point one would expect a little bit better quality control. In short, everything in this costume that its made out of fabric, is awesome. The latex/rubber/pbc-plastic parts, not so much.I must add that after finding the defect, the seller Vee Trends offered a full refund. And that I could keep the costume. All within less than a day before sending than an email. They seem to try and make things work the best for everybody. Highly recommended store.

Great picture...bad costume!
This was the best costume my 10 year old son had seen for Halloween 2010, so we ordered it. But, what a disappointment! The "neck" is a mask, to make it fit, he had to compromise his ability to breathe thru his nose. The costume part has a thin piece of see-thru material that covers the mask and we couldn't get it to stay up over the mask. And, there are blow-up shoulder pads that are connected with 1/4" elastic that were too tight under the arms and too big across the shoulders. The costume is cute in the pictures and the idea of it is great, just didn't all go together as well once we got it home. My son had to wear a costume from 2 years ago at the last minute, not a happy moment, but oh well!

It was pretty expensive for just the top piece. I thought it was a full costume and it wasn’t. It was pretty confusing to get it assembled and on and when my son was walking he was complaining and the shoulder pieces eventually just fell off. Wouldn’t recommend

Very Good Costume
This was a great costume for my son. He really had a lot of fun with it and enjoyed showing it off a little bit. It was a bit tricky for us to figure out at first, but it was good once we figured it out. The “mask” had a crease in it upon arrival and we followed the instructions for how to correct it. It turned out ok. The price was a little high, but we had bought it late for Halloween and had to pay for shipping too. It did arrive in time which is much appreciated. We live in the middle of nowhere and that is not always the case. Overall, I am very happy with this product and so was my son. I think he will like to use it again for Halloween next year if he hasn’t outgrown it.

Gross and complicated
Much too realistic mask with a cross section of a person’s neck in specific detail. I bought it for my five year old but we were both disgusted, additionally, the frame is inflatable, which is really strange. It’s hard to blow up and strange to wear. We opted for the other costume that’s available online that is a foam frame that is easy to take on and off because of that as well as simple Velcro.. finally, the smallest size did not fit my six-year-old. The cape is incredibly long,
