Excellent Monitor For Photo Editing & Gaming!
I chose the backlit LED BenQ GW2470H for professional photo editing and some gaming with the rest of the family (Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, Sim City, Civilization IV & V and various zoo and theme park tycoon games). I chose the 24" screen because at 1920x1080, it uses a .274 pixel pitch size compared to the a 27" using the same resolution, which would use a .31 instead. The smaller pixel pitch equals sharper detail for photos and for closer viewing. After reading ENDLESS amounts of monitor specs and lots of reviews and forum posts, I finally determined the right type of monitor for me was the AMVA + (SNB) panel, for reasons listed below. Many of these online sources will direct anyone seeking a photo editing monitor toward one with an IPS panel. The truth is that IPS panels produce no better color response than a VA panel does. VA panels also have two very important advantages over IPS and one lesser one. First, VA panels are capable of producing much better native contrast ratios than IPS (those dynamic contrast ratios mean absolutely nothing, especially when it comes to photo editing/accurate image display). Secondly, VA panels produce better blacks than IPS, which is also an important factor in accurate image display. The lesser advantage is the lack of light bleed in the corners, which is a shortcoming of IPS panels. The advancements of the AMVA + (SNB) design also improves refresh rates a bit for gaming. The BenQ GW2470H has an AMVA + (SNB) panel, which produces a 3000 to 1 native contrast ratio, compared to 1000 to 1 from an IPS panel monitor. It also has a 4ms refresh rate, making it slightly better for gaming than the 5ms rates of any IPS panel I've found. I also bought a Datacolor S5P100 Spyder5PRO to calibrate the color and contrast response, which (after calibration) lists this monitor as actually producing 74% of the color spectrum (slightly higher than the standard 72% of NTSC color, also known as 100% of the sRGB color spectrum, or 8 bit color). This is the standard color gamut to look for when buying anything short of a wide gamut monitor. Wide gamut monitors are only effective when the entire signal chain from software to printer are handling the image at 10bit color processing and are usually quite expensive themselves. They also produce mixed results when trying to simulate 100% sRGB color, which defeats the purpose for my needs.Using a professional hardware color / contrast calibrator is absolutely essential for making your monitor produce the best results. Having three times the native contrast ratio (the difference between brightest and darkest levels the screen can produce and how smooth those transitions are) is a huge plus. Regardless of what a manufacturer says about their monitor being "pre-calibrated" or color accurate right out of the box.... it's a load of you know what. It's not possible for any manufacturer to calibrate a monitor to be "accurate" without it being connected to your video card, using the cables you've chosen, and knowing the specific ambient light levels/color levels of your viewing area. All those variables affect the monitor output and a hardware calibrator like the Spyder5 Pro allows you to properly calibrate your monitor, including all those variables. You can also re-calibrate it anytime you like, to maintain image quality and know what you are actually outputting as a photographer. Ignore anyone saying a monitor's color looked bad out of the box. Of course it doesn't look as good as it could, regardless of brand or price.... if it hasn't been calibrated as mentioned above. The BenQGW2470H comes with two HDMI ports, one HDMI cable and a VGA port, with cable. It has a 178 degree viewing angle and looks really good at far off center angles, both sideways and from above. This means more people can enjoy what you are seeing (the way you're seeing it) without crowding together in that sweet spot. That's not the most important feature for me, but it is much nicer than the 170 degree monitor I had before. Is this monitor everything I hoped it would be? Yes! After much research, I'm happy to say that this is a great monitor for all my needs and at a great price! Performance for both offline and online gaming have also been great, without any smearing or ghosting. I wish it had the height adjustable stand of some of their gaming specific models, but that wasn't a deal breaker for me. It also includes flicker free technology, which is a nice touch. The BenQ manufacturer product page includes more information than the Amazon product page, so some people may find this link useful:http://orwww2.benq.com/product/monitor/gw2470h/specifications/I posted all this information in the hopes that it might be useful for someone with similar monitor needs as myself. With all the misinformation out there and the fact that this particular model seems to be pretty new, it might be easy to miss this really great performer.

A monitor for all uses.
A wonderful monitor. Has full HD 1920 X 1080 resolution, and can be overclocked slightly. I got it to 72 hz.Because it's a VA type panel it has superior contrast compared to TN or IPS. 3 times better in fact, and it shows quite a bit. However because it DOES use a VA panel pixel response times are a little lacking at times. They definitely did use a better overdrive technique compared to their older VA models, but it's still noticeable on "darker" games. You do get used to it over time but it might be a little jarring if you're going from a TN to this, as I did. It has three different overdrive settings, OFF, HIGH and PREMIUM. High is the setting you want to use, since it reduces ghosting by a good factor but doesn't introduce corona, which premium does. And please, keep in mind pixel response times are NOT the same as overall response time!! Pixel response time is how long it takes for a pixel to change color. GtG means how long it takes for a pixel to change from grey to white to grey, which is typically the fastest color change the monitor can do. Other color changes (like, say, red to blue and back to red) might be slower, and that's what introduces ghosting.Overall response time is how long it takes for information from the computer to actually show up on the monitor screen. They don't usually give this number out, unfortunately but fortunately most monitors are plenty sufficient for gamers. This monitor is no exception either. The stand is good quality and feels solid enough. As far as viewing angles, they're better than TN panels. I can't accurately compare it to an IPS since I haven't owned one before. Color rendition is amazing compared to a TN. Colors definitely seem more vibrant and lifelike compared to my old monitor.Overall, it's a wonderful monitor. However if you're a big big picky gamer, you might want to stick to TN panels. Otherwise, go for it, and you won't be disappointed.

Good for eyes, recommend.
Nice monitors with nice price,ZeroFlicker(Hardware function) and low blue light(Software function) functions are really useful and makes mine eyes relax.Compare with mine laptop screen, this monitor is much more better with the color and the visible angle. The response time(This monitors has some options to make it faster) is really good for any game such as: LOL, Metal Gear Solid 5. Need for speed. No energy consuming(energy star standard), i think for normal brightness(15-30) is 25W to 35W. Also, i never feel HOT when touch it.Recommend for everyone.PS: The Default Setting for HDMI cable is not good, when use HDMI, need to change the RGB range from 15-235 to 0-255. It will performance better.

Dread

Bueno Bonito Buen precio

They fell apart, but read the rest of what i have to say about this monitor.
I ordered 2 of these monitors. One came with a dead pixel so I decided to get a replacement. But the problem was, when I was disassembling the monitor, the entire case fell apart. Ribbon cables came undone, etc. Hopefully I can still get my money back, IMO this was very much benq's fault for having such a weak plastic clip keeping the frame together.BUUUUUT the working monitor is going amazing, colours are not super accurate, but thats not hard to fix with the built in colour temp adjuster.Even with the fault of the doubtful durability of the monitor, I still ordered another one of these.
