Works
Works great. Used it 6 times now to decock my crossbow.

Strong hands required
I like using the decock arrow versus using a regular bolt. The only issue so far is moving the rubber ring back in position after firing it into the ground. It requires a very firm grip and some strength. I have put Vaseline on the bolt shaft to make it easier to move back into correct position.

Effective reusable decocker
Does the job it was intended to do. Comments about it not lasting long are partially true. The shaft itself is strong, if you shoot it into soft ground, not a root or rock. The rubber damper is effective in slowing the arrow but after several shots it loosens up, sliding further up the shaft. Eventually it will catch on the fletching. I found that by adding 3 wraps of electrical tape around the shaft in bands spaced 3-4 inches apart provides the necessary friction to restrain the damper.

Decocker
It’s of good quality and has its usefulness ! It’s just what it is a decocker for a crossbow in the event you have your weapon cocked and ready to fire but later find out that there was nothing to shoot at except possibly trees ! In that case remove the bolt and load the decocker and shoot the dirt or maybe a tree . But don’t dry fire your bow just as you shouldn’t dry fire a gun .

Works as described
For decocking your crossbow, it works great. Went into the soil about 5-6 inches and the rubber clutch did what it is supposed to do. When done it takes a bit of force to set the rubber stopper back into position to fit the bolt back into my quiver.

Broke first use and no sling
Blew apart the first time I used it. Shaft was weak. Shattered. Took the thick head piece and blunt broadhead and placed it on an older bolt shaft I had for target practice. Works better on that, but that thick rubber is sliding more and more aa time goes on. Not impressed, but not many better options.Edit: I also never got the talon sling it talked about.

works great
The heavy weighted front is important. My buddy used my bow. I shot the de-cocking arrow at sunset, shooting at the ground. He didn't see a large rock, which he hit. They arrow flew skyward and was gone in the darkness. The next morning he found it in about 2 minutes as it landed completely vertical, 50 feet from where he shot it.

Doesn't fit Barnett's Hyper XP crossbows
Opened this for Christmas, along with a new Barnett Hyper XP crossbow. While the crossbow works great and is a lot of fun, tests with the Thump decocker were problematic and it never worked. Customer Service confirmed that the Thump has a larger diameter and thus isn't compatible with the Barnett Hyper crossbow models. I'm long past the return window, but thankfully not out that much money with this. I do recommend that the Thump product description clearly add a note that it isn't compatible with all the Barnett products.
