VINCENT LONGO Lip and Cheek Gel, Stain

I'm not an experienced lip stick wearer which is why i decided to go with a lip stain when i needed one for a holiday party. i got Liquid Kiss and it was a pretty dark red with just 2 coats. i think it's a bit too dark for casual wear unless you can get it on perfect with just one coat. i like that the color sets quickly and lasts a few hours as long as you don't eat anything or rub your mouth too much. it also doesn't stain your teeth so you can wear it worry free! if you have even slightly peely skin on your lips, those peely parts WILL look extra dark.one thing i'm sad about is that i had the lip stain in a clutch bag for about 4 hours and by the end of the night, the container somehow cracker near the opening! i don't remember sitting on my bag or anything, so it seems like it might be a fragile container. now i can't carry it around with me. i have to put it on in the morning and deal with the fact that after lunch the color won't really be there anymore. i still want to get this in My Sunshine tho :P

This is my go-to lip product and has been for years - it's pretty much the only lip colour I wear, because I can't stand lipsticks that wear off. But it's been getting harder and harder to find, so much so that I thought it might be gone forever... thankfully, I was wrong! I don't agree with some other reviewers saying that the formulation is different, it still goes on like ink and stays put for hours and hours... the color is maybe a half-step brighter than I remember but you can control that by applying less (for a more neutral tone) or double (to amp up the red.) I'm so relieved to have found it again, I'll be ordering more just in case it disappears again!

This lip stain is superb! It is true to color on your lips and will not change color. Make sure your lips are clean of any product before applying to ensure that the color remains on your lips for the longest amount of time. I find that the product is natural looking and does not feel like you are wearing anything at all on your lips. I like to use a transparent gloss with a lip plumper added for a youthful-looking plump and luscious pout AFTER applying the stain gel. The added gloss also helps moisturize the lips yet does not feel heavy. I am very fair with very neutral skin color and like the "Liquid Kiss" color. It can be warmed up by using a orange tinted gloss or cooled down to a mauve by using a purple tinted gloss. Be aware that even a slight bit of tinted gloss deepens the color so apply sparingly until you are aware of how deep you want to go with this shade. I love all these stains by Vincent Longo!!!!

Not crazy about the color (magic potion), it's very purple.I'm a huge fan of Vincent Longo's lip stain, but the one I own and love is "liquid kiss". It's a nice almost neutral red with a blood/brick tone. It looks natural. I wear it daily as a winter color and it's so much better than lipstick! I thought I'd try a different color and it's just not right for me. The pictures that I researched on the Internet look like a berry color and this one is really just very purple… Kind of goth. A little too much for me.

I read the reviews, and since they are mostly positive, I thought I'd give this lip stain a try. I bought "Liquid Kiss," and though darker than the color as represented on the Vincent Longo website, at least as my monitor renders it, it is still lovely.The Pros: lovely color, evenness of color easy to achieve, easy application, dries fast, does not get on teeth, no tasteThe Cons: color gone very quickly (too quickly), makes lips very dryI've worn this three different times, and all three times, the color was gone within an hour. No, I didn't eat or drink anything. Each time I wore it, I used different amounts of stain to achieve different depths of color, but how much I used did not matter: a little or a lot, it was gone in an hour. I also used lip gloss on top of it during one wearing (this lip stain really dries out the lips; it goes on cool, which suggests the presence of alcohol).I want to love this lip stain; the "Pros" I listed above are the very things I'm looking for. But lasting so short a time just won't cut it for me. I'm a fix-up and go sort of person; I don't like high-maintenance make-up. I don't want to have to repeat applications throughout the day. Sure, after a meal, a touch-up is sometimes necessary, but this lip stain hardly makes it through the morning commute.If you don't mind the need for possible hourly re-application, and if you have a gloss to help with the drying, then this might be the product for you. As I noted above, it's a great stain in many ways. It just doesn't last long enough to be practical for me.

I made the mistake of buying the new formula accidentally, without realizing it wasn't what I have purchased for years. I now reserve the two new ones for cheeks only since they are more gel-ly/less drying but they won't last to save your life if you put them on your lips. If you want a stain for your lips that needs touch up in center of lips only after an oily meal, seek out the original formula. To identify it, look at the ingredients list and it should fill up the entire side of the package, the first few ingredients being: Water, Glycerin Triethanolamine, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Disodium Edta, Ethyl Vanillin. Followed by the "May contain" section. I always look for the TriETHANOLamine (remember, you like alcohol/ethanol!) because that is not in the new one but it is in the original. I hope VL figures out that this new formula is not being purchased so I don't have to deal with this hassle every 4-6 months when I reorder! Find the original, you won't be disappointed!! :)
