Umbra 086300-410 , Nickel Swinger 12-Gallon Swing-Top Waste Can

I don’t like that the flap can’t swing around if the van is more than 3/4 full because the the shape and how low it scoops, but this is a general downside to the swing top cans. If you are fine with that this is a great can for you. I bought it for the basement where my teenagers and husband game in the hopes that they would pick up after themselves if the van was within 5 feet of their body. This however was an unrealistic expectation on my part. The most exciting thing about this if you ask my youngest is that it comes in a giant box and he played in it for days before destroying it and leaving it in the living room. I need a maid.

I bought this because I love the Umbra stuff, and also for the oval shape (it fits in my cabinet perfectly). What I didn't realize is that it is superior in design compared to other flip-top trash bins. Most of them have a thin piece of plastic that pivots back and forth. Walk through any discount store and you'll find 5-6 of them for $10. But this one has extra weight added to the flipping piece that prevents it from spinning around 360 degrees, and helps move it back into place after tossing something away. In addition, the top doesn't just sit on top of the base; it actually clamps on securely. We've knocked it over and it didn't come dislodged. Excellent piece of engineering, Umbra. Well done!

I like that my 13 gallon bags fit nicely inside. I like that it has a lid and most of the time it swings closed on its own. I don't like that the swinging lid's design makes it hit the trash and stop before the bag is full. Sturdiness, Durability, and Value I am happy with. Minus a star for the lid design.

I love that it’s basic! I didn’t want to mess with bars you put the bag under, or a step on one that you can’t get the bag all the way around because you need room for the mechanism. I can put a bag in, lid right on top no issues. Simple and not frustrating. Slim fit also if that’s what someone needs. Still full 13gal size.

Has a great width and depth easy to clean but the top came broken so the swinging door couldn't attach

I love this trash can! It has more of a matte finsh, so it's not all shiny like the picture shows. This was a pleasant surprise for me. Yes, I agree with other reviews that when it is about 3/4 full, the swinger hits the trash, BUT it is a good reminder to empty it! I also have to young boys who think that this is a toy, and it has held up well. There is an anti-slip on the bottom, so it doesn't move when bumped or anything of that nature. A quality product!

This was a Swing-Top waste of my time and money. It's made of crap plastic. The swing top came broken. Very poorly made. How did this trash can made it to production? Seriously. Also when you push in the swing top you lose like 1/4 of your trash space. Basically the top can't swing over trash, it swings so deep you can even fill the thing. So, not only do you waste money buying it, you waste more money by not being able to fill it up..and we all know trash bags aren't the cheapest thing around! The color isn't even as cool as they make it seem.

People complained in reviews I read before purchase about how kid would not close on its own , would Ramon half open once trash deposited , this was easily remedied by a simple application of thin lubricating oil to the contact area of swivel point.Works perfect been 2 months and only put lube on upon receiving, FYI I used turbine oil , almost same as 4-1 purchased at any hardware store / Home Depot and the oil is a must have in any house anyhow.
