Maktub-Trilhas E Temas De O Clone

The Maktub CD is so exquisitely beautiful it's startling when you first hear it. As the background music to the popular Brazilian soap, "O Clone" (or "El Clon" in the dubbed-in Spanish showing), its mixture of Arabic and Hispanic sounds is haunting. As an example, I was watching a scene in El Clon where a man stood on the edge of the Moroccan desert and then walked into it all alone. My son who couldn't care less about El Clon heard the background music and practically ran into the room to hear it all. He said it was so sad it was painful. And yet, beautiful. Sometimes you just feel the way this music sounds. It speaks to every sadness in your soul. That particular theme was "Entre Dois Mundos" which I think is Portugese for Between Two Worlds. Other background pieces like "Kyrie" make you want to smile and dance. In all, the sounds and rhythms in this album are so extraordinary you will not regret a single penny of the cost, nor the few weeks' wait until it arrives.

I was dubious about buying a TV-show soundtrack,but I'm a big fan of latin, brazilian and arabic musics and the reviews were persuasive so I decided to try it. Too bad. This is world music-lite, easy-listening with a mid-eastern flavor. Despite a few authentic voices occasionally mixed in, there is way too much violin sweetener, equal temperament tuning, western chord progressions and 4/4 rock-derived drumbeats. Serious fans of Mid-eastern or latin/brazilian music should definitely skip this CD.

Beautiful, a very spiritual journey with this soundtrack. These were all used with the internationally acclaimed soap, with a lot of morals in each character, a very rare production and very well done.

Marcus Viana, a Brazilian violinist, composer and singer along with his group (Transfônica Orkestra) skillfully combine Western, North African, and Middle Eastern sounds to produce a dynamic CD called MAKTUB. The title comes from an Arabic expression, which means "It has been written" as in one's destiny has been written and one cannot or nothing can change that destiny. MAKTUB is one of the soundtracks for Brazilian telenovela, O CLONE (THE CLONE).The music is mainly instrumental with a few vocals (traditional Arabic and modern Portuguese songs). MAKTUB also includes the Brazilian group Sagrado Coração de Terra, its lead female vocalist Malu Aires and Syrian musician Tony Mousayek.The more you listen to MAKTUB, the more you'll find yourself lightly shaking your shoulders or taping your feet. With other songs, you'll just want to get up and dance. Some songs are haunting and bittersweet (Especially when Marcus Viana plays his violin). You'll find yourself lost in thought. For those following the telenovela, you'll find that the MAKTUB CD captures the true essence of the television story - forbidden lovers from two different cultural and religious worlds. Through the music, you feel what the characters are feeling. The ethnic sounds of Arabian and Indian instruments and a Western orchestra result in a unique creation.As with many of Marcus Viana's other soundtracks, you don't have to watch the telenovela to enjoy the music. The music has an enchantment of its own.MAKTUB is another excellent CD soundtrack. Like a magic carpet ride, the sounds of Viana's violin will carry you away to another musical place. Even if this is not the type of music you normally listen to, you'll enjoy MAKTUB. (By the way, Viana is pictured on the cover of the CD playing his violin. This CD compiles the best music from the Brazilian soap opera, O Clone. The sound and rhytm are beautiful, and the lyrics are full of meaning. My favorite song is Mirage, which is Jade and Lucas theme song. It's so perfectly composed that it never gets old. If you love O clone music, like I do, then you have to get this CD, you won't regret it.

If you watched El Clon which is a brazilian soap opera you are familiar with the music in this CD. By the way even though it is shown in Telemundo network it is subtitled in English! At a moment in which anything related to the arab world is seen with suspicion, this sopa opera in a subtle way[which is based in Morocco and Brazil] reminds us that humans, whether Jews, Muslims, Christians...or any other faith...are HUMANS!

I found the CD from the popular Brazilian soap opera "El Clon or "O Clone" to be very enchanting. The music provides a perfect background to the soap opera. It is based on a forbidden love story between two people from two different worlds. (Morocco and Brazil). The sounds and rhythms are beautifully orchestrated. The mixed of Arabian and Hispanic sounds are very haunting and melancholic -- it speaks to your soul.KL
