After reading this book I am convinced that we need this man and more like him in our political world.

After reading this book, I am even more motivated to move from beleaguered Illinois with its ever increasing taxes and depressing cold winters (amongst other more compelling reasons), I am more gung ho In, in the months ahead, finding somewhere to move to in the vast state of Texas. Until reading this book, I had no idea Texas had so much going for it. If for no other reason, I think reading this book would at least enlighten objective thinking readers to at the very least do a compare and contrast of how one's own state measures socio-economically with states such as Texas (on the high end) vs California, New York, New Jersey or my home state of IllinoisLastly, in this day and age with numerous governmental entities (federal, state and local) facing stresses as a result of, lets just say fiscal mismanagement, its imperative to take an objective look at the very least to know how where one lives fares in the grander scheme of things and if need be strongly consider if moving to a different state such as Texas might be a viable optio to consider after reading this here book..

This book captures one's interest from the first page. Colonel West is a great writer and knows how to put out the facts, with interesting information about himself from the beginning.Absolutely awesome!

Lt. Col. West might do well to partner up with Uhaul for some coupon codes at the end of this book!I picked up this gem perfectly happy with my little slice of red-state, but this read had me unexpectedly wondering if the lone star was calling me!! No personal income tax AND her own power grid... tempting, indeed.In this day and age everyone has ideas & everyone has a platform to express those ideas, but no one is prepared to stand up, speak them out and LEAD. This man is overqualified on every level of leadership imaginable; if he battle cries "Victory or Death" -- GET BEHIND HIM!!No doubt Buck & Snooks are beaming.

Great book and I really enjoy the fact that LTC West is the narrator. Makes you feel like your sitting down with him over coffee.

If you've ever heard Alan West speak then you're probably as big a fan as I am. This book is an in-depth look at what's going on in TX politics & what's coming at us in the future if we're not really careful. Excellent read for Conservatives who see the "Liberal" movement leading us closer & closer to a Socialist USA & what we need to be aware of. Alan West writes as eloquently as he speaks & this book shows it.

I enjoyed the content of the book as well as the writer's style.

I just finished reading Hold Texas, Hold the Nation and recommend it to anyone who wants an easy-to-read explanation of the contrast between socialist progressive and conservative economic policies. It's a cautionary tale that describes the dangers of socialism to individual liberty. The book is well-researched and gives specific examples of the effects of the socialist polices found in California and other regions dominated by liberal office-holders. LTC West explains economic principles in straight-forward, easy to understand language.
