Worked great as a rack tom stand
Wasn’t too sure about the flat bottom but this stand does what it needs to do. Doesn’t move around when you pound the thing. I used this for a 13” rack Tom. You can adjust the tilt to exactly how you like it. It’s not super light (I see some are complaining) but I wanted something sturdy. $79 seemed a lil high for a snare stand but worth the extra $$. Yeah you can go cheap for like 50 but go ahead and get this dude

Heavy, awkward
I was drawn to this because I prefer flat base stands, and I owned a Gibraltar 8706 stand that I purchased years ago and like more than my DW flat snare stand. This one is way too heavy, and incredible, I had to struggle with it on one gig where the handle on the ball managed to get tangled in the other moving parts. I had to mess with it for a good five minutes to figure it out and set it up for the gig. After that, never again. It is now in my rehearsal studio where it does a great job supporting whichever snare drum happens to be used at the time. For stationary use it's great. Set it up once and don't worry about it. For gigging, though, I would think twice: once about the weight, and once about if another fluke tangle will happen. Perhaps the chances of it ever happening to me again are slim, I am one of those folks who will write something off if it lets me down once. This stand fits that.

Bring it on down!
I have some very “short” students. That’s an 18” kick drum so you can se by the pictures this stand really brings the height of the snare down to a playable level for the younguns! The tilt adjust works great. Not sure I’d use it for heavy snares and I’m not a heavy hitter, so it “might” be fine, but for thus piccolo and the Alesis Strike MultiPad it’ll do just fine.

Update: flaw corrected!
UPDATE: I bought a second stand and, lo and behold, it shipped with a proper length tube. Well done, Gibraltar! Upgrading to Five stars. For those considering ordering this stand: height adjustment is severely limited by the length of the down tube from the snare basket. It is physically impossible to use the stand with the basket lowered all the way into the base as the down tube protrudes approx. 4-5" inches below the base such that the legs will not touch the ground. This is an easy fix with a pipe cutting tool, but really, for brand new hardware manufactured by a subsidiary of an aerospace company, you shouldn't have to resort to sawing off the pipe. That said, I sawed off the pipe. Post-surgery, this is an excellent snare drum stand. Exceptionally sturdy for a flat base model and lightweight. Five star performance from the stand, but two stars have been subtracted - one for each inch of pipe I removed. Read this and consider modifications, Gibraltar/Kaman!

Gets down to 15” and is terrific
The fact this goes so low (15”) is the main draw to me but it’s also a high end stand in most ways with flat legs and a single free angle adjustment for a great price. Start here and see if you need something else above this.

Nice snare stand at an amazing price
The stand is well-built and uses metal in all the right spots. This is my first piece of "flat" hardware, and I really like it. Very adjustable, yet stable. Legs don't get in the way behind a small kit. I recommend this stand even if you don't have all flat-leg hardware. It's a solid choice.

Great for deeper Snares
Low height for those deeper snares with a flat base works in places other stands just will not fitWell made and great adjustments via the ultra adjust

top qulaity & light, far better than any Pearl, Yamaha or other brand! Gibraltar does it again!
Have been using Gibraltar 8600 series hardware for almost 23 years. The best hardware for weight to strength on the market far surpassing any brand name and far stronger than any brand name. I play strictly vintage rare drum kits and the 8600 series Gibraltar Vintage Flat Based series stands out perform DW by a huge margin and Pearl and Yamaha simply don't come close they are way too heavy and not functional for the professional constantly gigging touring player like Gibraltar is. I have tried Tama flat based and DW flat based and they fell apart so quickly it was a joke. My 8600 series stands however have not failed. I finally replaced the snare stand after 23 years of use still using the original HH and three boom cymbal stands I ordered originally!
