Runs very well now that faulty carb was replaced
My Mantis 2-cycle tiller (two years old) never ran correctly from day one. It was always very hard to start. At the end of the second year, it would not run at all. I tried cleaning everything, including removing the carb. hi and low jets, using carb. cleaner, etc. Still would not run. Very frustrating. Finally I gave up and ordered the Zama replacement carb. This is the same model the Mantis came with originally, and the replacement was a snap to install (along with new hoses and filters). About 15 minutes after I started, I gave it one pull, yes just one, and the engine barked to life. It ran perfectly both at idle and full throttle. I tilled for about 2 hours the first day, and the same the next day, and the tiller ran perfectly, and started very easily. I suspect that the original carb from the factory was faulty, but this replacement is excellent. The tiller is now a joy to use!

Bets way to fix a small engine carburetor problem: replace the whole carb!
I tried rebuilding a carburetor on my Toro lawn mower; what a disaster. My eyes are getting bad (71-year old eyes) and I somehow lost one of the tiny parts, and put the carb back together without realizing my mistake. Never did get that old carb working. Bought a new carb from Ebay and it was perfect; new, shinny, and clean! The best part of the experience was that it worked on the first try and works perfect every time that Toro is started. So the moral of the carburetor story was learned and applied when my Mantis would not start. It seems that Ethanol in gasoline destroys nay small engine parts. I replaced the Mantis carb with one ordered from Amazon. It came on time, as expected, was easy to install, and worked! Unless you are very experienced and/or lucky, just get a new carb. It's not much more expensive than the rebuild kit and your odds of success are much better. One tip: use your smart phone to take pictures of the hose connections and linkages before you remove the carb. It makes it so much easier to see how it was before you started working on this project.

Good value for the money.
Purchased this for our rototiller after it was gummed up. I was hesitant ordering this one but it worked great. Was easy to install and is working today! Would purchase again.

No experience required (almost)
First off, I hate mechanical work. But my current economic situation (retired) set the tone for this repair. After messing with the set screws for literally weeks on my old Mantis tiller I was almost ready to take the thing to a dealer. It would start, but not run, or run without power, or quit when I let off the trigger. I was flummoxed. Before loading the thing up I came to Amazon to see what I could see. The other reviews showed I wasn't alone with my problem, and this little carburetor looked like the answer! Only $30 bucks plus shipping, why not? While I was at it I also ordered a new set of gas lines and grommet. I wasn't sure I needed them but since I would "be there" I figured I might as well replace those also. The lines arrived a day ahead of the carb. Both in good condition and within 3-4 days even though I chose regular shipping. I started to work by draining the gas tank first.Really, only two screws hold the choke and the carb on. Once removed it's just a matter of removing the lines. I pushed the grommet through, into the gas tank, and pulled the lines out through the filler hole. Save the carb gasket, they don't ship a new one with the replacement.Pay attention to which line goes where, both through the grommet and to the carb. I'm not sure it makes a big difference through the grommet, , but I wanted to replace them just as they came from the factory.BimBamBoom, within half an hour the job was completed and came the "moment of truth". Now many say the new carb comes "preset" and after filling the tank my tiller started right up, just like new. Once warmed up she ran like a top both under power and at idle. Whooah!I took her to the garden to break up some clods I had turned by hand and Mantis did her thing, no stalling and with full power.Since my unit ran with no problems for the past 12 years I consider myself lucky. DRAIN THE GAS AND RUN IT DRY EVERY WINTER.If you are having carb problems with your Mantis tiller BUY THIS CARBURETOR first.

and the machine started easily. No carburetor adjustments were needed
My Mantis tiller was hard to start and would die when throttled. A couple of hours spent soaking and meticulously cleaning the old carburetor did not solve the problem.I ordered a new carburetor on Wednesday and it was delivered by mail on Friday. It took less than ten minutes to remove the old carb and install the new one. I pumped the primer bulb a few times, and the machine started easily. No carburetor adjustments were needed. The tiller ran perfectly and I used it for a few hours. So nice to have it running again! The carburetor was very easy to install with just a phillips screwdriver and possibly a pair of needle nose pliers, if the fuel lines can't be removed with your fingers.

Great product, great price
I bought my mantis tiller about ten years ago and back then all the reviews said that they have carb trouble and to be sure to empty it at the end of the season. I did clean out the tank and run the carb empty. This year though, i guess the ethanol finally got to it. I tried to clean it, but for the price I couldn't beat it. I just ordered a new one and had my mantis tiller running in no time. The carb was really easy to replace, only took about 30 mins total to pull the old one, clean everything up and put the new carb on. She runs like a sewing machine now.
