Ricky Martin... Live Black & White Tour [DVD]

I saw a part of this concert DVD of Ricky Martin on TV and loved it so I had to have it his energy and machismo

I don't speak Spanish and Spanish is not required to enjoy this concert. Let's get to the highlights:1. Ricky Martin is SOOOOOOHHHH good looking;2. Did I mention how good looking Ricky Martin is? Gorgeous face, beautiful skin (and blue-ray & high def shows all the flaws), hot powerful body, nice smile, eyes, ooh la la!3. His voice is soulful, powerful - Ricky has talent;4. Ricky has a cool dancing style, it's different, and he got some moves;5. The choreography was pretty good. The backup dancers were fierce and the backup singers and band was just as fierce. I lovediddid (pronounced love-did-did) the Egyptian dance routine;6. Getting this on Blu-ray was the right choice. It sounds great and the picture is amazing.Okay, so what I wrote that he's good looking several times, but I mean, how many men, whatever his sexual orientation, can rock a tribal wrap skirt over pants during one set and a wood beaded necklace in another and still look masculine and sexy? This is a great concert. I surely will invest in seeing Ricky next time he tours the States. Some songs are in English, some are in Spanish and some are a combination of both. I'm really glad that I purchased this blu-ray concert. It is well worth the inexpensive price and I enjoy watching Ricky, the musicians and the dancers groove throughout this entire concert.

When this man performs at home, it's like letting a wild mustang loose!He came, he saw, he conquered and performed! This DVD truly captures Ricky at his best. This concert was a collection of songs we told him we loved. Some were done as originally recorded and several were rearranged with new rhythms that knocked my socks off, thanks to David Cabrera, Musical Director! I was lucky enough to get tickets for both concerts and can tell you the DVD is right on the money. Whenever I need a "Ricky" fix, I can pop in the DVD and I'm back in Puerto Rico with my friends dancing right up front!We had been begging Ricky and his management for a LIVE concert for years and he delivered... BIG TIME! If you want a taste of Ricky Martin LIVE? Get this DVD, he and his crew put their hearts and souls into it.

(Edited 12/09/08 - I've just purchased the Blu-Ray version and all I have to say is WOW what a MAJOR improvement in video quality over the SD DVD. No black bars, the aspect ratio is fixed, and the picture quality looks like an HD live broadcast. The blu-ray edition is the DEFINITIVE version to buy!)I've been a big fan of Ricky Martin for many years now and I'm so pleased that the "Black & White" tour is available for everyone to see on DVD.While there are a few Ricky Martin DVDs on the market this is Ricky's first actual concert tour show available on DVD (clocking in at 100 minutes) and the best stage show that Ricky has ever put together. I've seen many of Ricky's performances on stage, tv, and video and this concert is by far his most polished work.The concert spans through 5 different "acts" (tribal, romance, revoluccion, & rave + encore) as Ricky performs many of his greatest hits such as "Por Arriba, Por Abajo," "Bella," "Livin' La Vida Loca," "The Cup Of Life," and "Tal Vez". La Mari from the group Chambao also makes an appearance to perform the duet "Tu Recuerdo" as well.Ricky also shows off some nice capoeira moves along with a little bit of choreographed dancing, plays the congo, with some great sets and costumes throughout the show. I was also impressed by how much Ricky's vocals have improved since his first album. He has always had some great songs but I never felt that he performed ballads with sufficient passion. However it has become very apparent that he has taken his vocals to a higher level and now I can totally "feel" Ricky when he's singing songs such as "Fuego De Noche, Nieve De Dia."To those of you who purchased the CD/DVD pack of "Black & White" (as I did) - YOU HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF!The DVD in that CD/DVD combo set DOES NOT CONTAIN THE ENTIRE CONCERT! It is merely a condensed version of the show and I find it very neglectful of Sony not to indicate this on the packaging.For the ENTIRE concert along with a short backstage documentary, this is the DVD to buy.While the show itself deserves FIVE STARS I must take one back due to the mediocre production value of this DVD. Compared to another Sony concert DVD release (Shakira: Oral Fixation Tour) the video quality looks dull and compressed. For whatever reason, the production company did not even author this show in 16X9 anamorphic widescreen. Because of this, Ricky (who is fairly tall at 6'1") looks shorter and slightly pudgy in wide camera angles on my 32" Samsung LCD.I certainly hope that Sony will fix this in a future Ricky Martin concert DVD and give us Ricky as he was meant to be seen on a widescreen TV!Overall, I recommend this DVD because of Ricky's fantastic showmanship and continuing evolution as a music artist. Ricky fans who did not see the Black & White Tour in person should especially buy this because it is virtually the same show that I saw at Madison Square Garden.

This dvd is just awesome! It really makes you feel like you're there. I saw this show live a few times during this tour and this dvd totally captures the look and the feel and the sound of the show. Ricky is best seen live, but this is the next best thing. The songs are terrific, the dancing is amazing, the lighting is inspired and the moving catwalks are just so cool! Ricky sounds and looks so hot! The way that the old songs were re-done really gave them a fresh sound. Revolution simply rocks! The newer songs are terrific too - Pegate starts out the show and brings you to your feet. Tu Recuardo with Mari is just beautiful. This is a must-have dvd!

i just recently started paying greater attention to latin musica. i find that i really like the beat...it's fast and fun. anyway, it is very rare that i buy a concert on disc, but i really liked Ricky's album "Life"(it's kick a** boss), so i figured the concert would be just as great. turns out it is. only bad thing is having to watch Ricky jump around on stage for an hour and a half...nothing like that to make a guy insanely jealous. and yes Ricky, all guys are insanely jealous, even the ones who won't admit it. especially them.

Ricky Martins Black and White Tour DVD is captivating. The music and dancing is great! Ricky is really having a great time performing and he is a positive force in this world. The stage and light production is so well suited with the music. The extras on this DVD are a behind the scenes look at Ricky and the tour entorage getting ready for the concert. Also included are the background lighting effects with the music in case you would like to watch just that. Rickys "Skin" rebirth with tattoo's is a work of art!

Fantastico concierto

Unfortunately, region code of the dvd is 4, so it can't be played on European dvd/blu ray players. It is written on a cover that it is region 0, but it's NOT true. Luckily, I've got a computer with dvd drive so I was able to watch it. The concert is superb.
