Updated Review after some use.What I perceived as minor faults in the review below are in fact major faults. The cheap and badly design materials that form the collar for the parasol column are absolutely horrendous. It's impossible to stop the inserts from popping out and therefore, impossible to get the parasol stable in even the lightest winds.This is nothing to do with the weight of the base which I have supplemented by about 15kg but entirely related to case of being unable to hold the parasol column in place. A small 5 ft parasol gets twisted around in the slightest breeze.Learn from our experience and find something with a better locking mechanism.Original 4 star ReviewThis is quite a lightweight item and truth be known, not quite up to the job for the parasol that we bought but that's entirely my fault. It looks nice and the post fits on to the base easily enough but the plastic collar is both good and bad.The good part is that it provides different ring fittings for different diameter posts but the ring that has to be in all the time blocks the hole where the locking screw comes through forcing the collar up and out.If you by chance twist the parasol pole to re-orientate the parasol, the same thing will occur. The collar material isn't great either so I suspect at some point I'll need to cobble something together to get it working properly.

Solid and sturdy. It fits between the legs of my new patio table, unlike the one I already had. Looks good too so it's perfect.

I was pleased with the umbrella base as strong enough to hold umbrella yet easy enough for me to move around the patio

Unfortunately, this base is not heavy enough to prevent the garden brolly from tipping over in the wind.

It does exactly what it says and is a very attractive item for the garden
