Easy and safe to use on a large machete
I bought this to sharpen an old machete that I use for cutting coconuts. Worked like a charm. Blade was sharp again in like 5 minutes - no effort at all.

Great, but didn't work on my mini axes.
I bought this set to sharpen some new throwing axes that were completely undamaged and just not sharp enough to stick to the wood target. Out of the 4 diffrent brands, (which were the Woox Volante One-Handed logo Axe, WATL premium competition thrower, the Wicing 3 pack throwing axes, and a Big 5 mini hatchet by Buckshot) this little yellow pull sharpener only sharpened the WATL axe, and with more time and strength, the Woox axe to where it would stick. Maybe, this pull sharpener is NOT ment for very thin, full tang, mini throwing axes that are 14 Inches and under. As the WATL and the Woox axe have wood handles and are allot bigger and thicker than the other throwing axes.. But anyway, this did the job easily on the WATL/Woox axe when I pulled firmly with the honing oil that Amazon recommended. Instructions were really clear and it was fast and easy. I used the lansky puck on my smaller axes and it worked really well. The fact that I bought all 3 of these things for under 25 was worth it. I know others have stated that the tool won't work on heavily damaged axes, so I expected it to do the job with blades that just didn't come sharp. But Ya, it only sharpened 2 of the bigger ones and a machete. I'm new to all this stuff, so maybe I'm doing something wrong with the smaller axes and just need to adjust, but idk. The WATL blade was my favorite out of the large throwing axes, so I'm glad it atleast sharpened that. But so far, it's worth a try for the price.

This Works Great to Sharpen Sword Blades!
Several years ago, I bought a decent replica of the US Dragoon's 1840 Saber, once called the "Old Wristbreaker" for good reason. As with most such replicas, it has a stainless-steel sheath and blade, and that blade was exceptionally dull, also for good reason. These reasons I naturally chose to ignore, instead first searching for a tool that might make its sharpening feasible, before proceeding to brown the brash steel. Your devise was "discovered" and almost immediately ordered, arriving in record time, and was promptly inspected and put to work. I first fixed the blade in my vice, using the pads, and soon discovered that it functions much like the old kitchen sharpeners of yore, only being much larger and, ergo, capable of sustaining a sweeping carry down & up vast portions of the blade while applying steady pressure. My initial goal was to give my sword an edge, hopefully somewhat even, while taking my time to learn how to shave the least steel for the greatest effect. I initially believed I might be at my bench vice for hours over days, but was delighted to achieve that first goal, a decent even edge, in only four hours or so over that many days. I strongly recommend your Sharpener to any and all who have long bladed tools/weapons, no matter how dull!

Good For Machetes - Not Good For Axes, Mauls, Hatchets
Very good machete, or knife sharpener but does not work on mauls, chopping axes, or most hatchets, which is why I purchased this in the first place. If I am in my shop, I would sharpen my tools with a file and stone. I got this to use in the field to field dress/sharpen my axes and mauls while I am in the process of using them. I wanted something quick and easy to use. It does, however, put an awesome edge on my machetes in the filed - very quickly, and easily. The cutting blades on this sharpener are too close together to work for mauls, unless you have ground the business end of the maul down to a thin, long taper (which essentially ruins the purpose of the maul). Chopping axes and some hatchets also have a wider taper than this tool can handle.

VERY IMPRESSED!
I’m beyond happy with this sharpener. I had an axe and a hatchet that were incredibly dull. Trying to split wood into kindling was nearly impossible. Well not anymore! After about 20 minutes of grinding on both the axe and the hatchet, they are both incredibly sharp! Like cutting a piece of paper sharp! After sharpening them I went and started splitting wood and it was an absolute breeze! I couldn’t be happier with the results. The instructions say you need a vice, but I didn’t have one so I just held the tools well and went to work. I’m definitely going to recommend this to friends and family.

Really bites into dull blades.
Bought a cheap camp axe and ran this down it a few times and now it takes chunks out of trees. It is easy to use and very safe. The size is perfect to pack along. It feels really well built. I can't believe the difference it made on that dull axe. You can feel it grab the first couple of passes then smooth out. That's when I knew it was sharp. The value you are getting with this is wonderful!
