WORKS GREAT!!
DOES AN AMAZING JOB FOR WHAT IT'S MADE FOR!! WORKS PERFECT!!(JUST BEWARE THAT IF YOU'RE TRYING TO CONVERT SPDIF TO ANALOG, THIS WON'T DO IT FOR YOU - YOU'LL NEED A SEPARATE ADAPTER FOR THAT, AS YOU CAN ONLY USE THE SPDIF IN WITH THE SPDIF OUT)

Only partial support for Windows 10
So, you're not gonna see this here, or on Diamond's page for this unit. It's only really visible if you go digging through their FAQs."Due to the age of this chipset, there will only be limited support for windows 10. The card will still function using a windows 8.1 driver, but will not provide full surround sound functionality. Digital Connections will no longer be supported. These cards will only provide 2 channel stereo."[...]"Okay," I figured. "I got this for TOSLINK, but if I use 3.5mm it'll still work for what I need, because it's still external and won't pick up interference from my motherboard."This worked for about ten minutes and seemed like a viable option. At around the ten minute mark, a bunch of static picked up and all the voices and sounds in the video I was watching started to crackle really bad. This lasted for about 15 seconds, then stopped. Figuring it was a fluke, I continued on, but sure enough, same thing happened about ten minutes later. This continued to be the case for several hours of use.So I tried putting in a ticket with the manufacturer. I'm TRYING to make this work. Submitted it last Saturday, was told it'd take up to two business days for a response. It's the following Sunday and I haven't heard a thing. There's a good likelihood that if you buy this and don't get what I assume is a defective unit like mine, and that you're using it on older operating systems, it works great. I tried my best to make it work, but from having (some pretty important!) information withheld and buried, to their support ignoring me, I'm gonna wash my hands of this thing.

Success
I was having trouble moving to Windows 10 as the built in sound didn't work with the Win 10 drivers. I tried several times with different sound cards(internal) no luck!I got the USB Diamond Multimedia and it worked the first time and it supports all of my games. I didn't want to get a new computer yet and this did the job w/o any trouble.

Outstanding product, completely satisfied, have bought three of them, will buy more.
This is just an outstanding product. I've now bought three of them, one for a windows 7 laptop, and two for windows 7 desktops, and am completely thrilled. They make everything sound great both recording in and playing back.I've seen some reviewers having issues with Windows 10 machines, and I'm sorry if that is the case, because this is an excellent piece of hardware. I hope whatever issues they are, they can get them worked out. I bought my first one of these about six months ago and have been so pleased I've been getting one for each of my machines. Installation has taken five minutes each time. Run a setup program off the CD, reboot, and then configure whatever audio programs you're using to record and playback to make use of the XS71U (or however it comes up in listed amongst your devices) and you're good to go.And for the price? Personally I think Diamond is practically giving these away and they could charge a lot more considering the performance you get. Just my experience.

BEWARE! Only 2 channel sound on Win10
Unfortunately, Diamond's support site says the chip is old enough that Windows 10 isn't supported for multichannel sound. This device works fine on Windows 8.1, but if you load the device drivers on Windows 10, you get only 2 channel sound. There's no option anywhere to use the other channels. It's a shame, as this card used to work fine. I have a laptop now with only 2 channel output and would like to use my 175W/channel, 7.1 stereo system.Nope! At least, not with this board. It worked great on Win8 though.

Using for Whole House Sound system
In case anyone is interested, I am using this soundcard with a Mac Mini as a way of outputting 8 channels to my whole house audio system. In fact I am using three of them to output 24 channels (12 stereo zones) to speakers installed throughout the house. The software that provides audio content from any computer in the house (or music sources like Spotify) is called Audio Acacia (I have no commercial affiliation with them - I am just a fan of their product). One caution, I found out that these soundcards need a reasonable amount of power so you either have to connect them directly or via a powered USB hub (if you are going to use more than one).

Wasted my money
Wasted my money. Is not compatible with Windows 10 due to bad hard limits in the driver installer.
