or you end up with what looks like a kindergartners' art project
The only reason I give these baffles one star is because giving less isn't an option! Absolute junk! Basically, an awkwardly shaped styrofoam plate. I started installing these in a new home build, with rafter spacing at 24" oc. After the first one, I thought I must be doing something wrong, so I consulted the Owens-Corning website. Their instructions confirmed, I was installing them correctly. The accordion end that is used to block off the rafter bays is impossible to bend down cleanly. The styrofoam either cracks and breaks, or you end up with what looks like a kindergartners' art project. It's impossible to get a cosmetically pleasing appearance. I realize that no one will see it once it's covered with sheathing and insulation, but I expected a better product, considering the price. If I was to do it over again, I'd use the cheaper baffles and use a piece of rigid foam to block off the soffit bay. If you're considering this product, realize that it's the same material as a cheap styrofoam picnic plate. The kind that breaks in two if it tries to support the weight of a delicious hamburger. Save your money, go with the cheaper baffles. At least you won't be too surprised if they're junk...

Raft-R-Mate 22-1/2 in x 48 in Attic Insulation Rafter Baffle Proper Vents (70 Pieces)
Compared to its competitors, the size for these are perfect (4-ft long). I thought it came with 75 pieces, but it only came with 70 pieces (I wished they put this on the description or title at least). But the quality of these are great! I would definitely suggest buying when you are able to find them for somewhat cheaper (below $300). Overall, they are very durable and have lasted for over 5 years, and no signs of it deteriorating or anything! Still looks like how it did when I first purchased it.

Owens-Corning Raft-R-Mate
Very durable attic vent. I compared these with the cheap ones supplied by Home Depot, Lowe's, Menards, etc. They do not sell the Owens-Corning Raft-R-Mate in the Chicagoland area. Extremely easy to use with no worries of collapsing due to insulation.Do a little investigating to find lowest price on the internet.Would recommend to those DIY'ers installing their own insulation.
