Olmsted is a hero to me. His life and writings are far reaching but his writing is very 1840s in style but thoughtful. He changed and improved urban life in cities

This is a terrific book of Olmsted's writings drawn from various sources. Olmsted was a journalist before he designed any parks and he also was very good at making the case in writing for parks and "preservation of scenery."

While written in the style of mid-19th Century discourse, it is a work of genius, revealing the author's amazing breadth of concerns for humanity.

A rich collection of Olmsteadian thinking!

This is a great book for everyone.
