Very useful radio
This radio combines the convenience of being able to use replaceable AA batteries with great sound. It is one of the best truly portable DAB radios.

Sony Quality radio
After buying a fairly horrible Bush aka sainsburys/Argos brand radio for £20 with a tinny sound, naff preset buttons that had to be scrolled through not dedicated to individual stations, a poor battery compartment lid that flexed out of shape with batteries inserted and worst of all the batteries quickly heated up to untouchable and wouldn’t switch on under battery power due to a short circuit presumably and consequent risk of fire/explosion I decided I needed to increase my budget significantly and always have good experiences with Sony electrical items and found this radio on Amazon.Properly made (in China) not Japan anymore?! Good looking. Sound quality is very good, presets for five dab and five FM stations, good display, stereo headphone (not supplied) socket and mains adaptor. Feels nice and stable on a flat hard surface and although slim not about to topple over unless really careless. Takes four AA alkaline batteries (not supplied) should last OK with my plan for occasional use and portability around the home.A pleasure to use and listen to especially after the debacle of the other radio. Buy once cry once although not really expensive and I expect this Sony to last for many years unlike the other piece of tat.

Does Not Charge Batteries
I cannot believe this radio cannot charge its batteries! I do not want a sealed-in battery I cannot change (the next product up). Product description seems vague, even in hindsight.The Roberts I was getting rid of (rubbish battery connectors, did not like being dropped) could do this, for less.Hitherto a Sony fan but no longer.Sony definitely on the wrong track with this product.Battery lifetime is also poor.Apart from this abysmal "feature", fair.

Very disappointed
This item arrived and when we opened it, it was obvious that it had been returned as it was already tuned to a station and the package of the radio wasn’t very good. Returned it back to Amazon
