Perfect fit
This is a perfect fit at a fraction of the cost of an OEM filter for my 2006 MINI Cooper S. The location is a bit awkward to get to, under and behind the glove box. There "should" be 4 screws holding the filter housing but all that were holding mine were the 4 clips. The only time I had this replaced was at the dealer so obviously they left the screws off but the housing was very tight so the crews aren't needed. Carefully pop off the housing clips (remove the screws first if you have them) and then pull out the existing filter, carefully noting the air flow arrows and that the existing filter curves upward starting level with the ground at the passenger side door and curving upward toward the middle. If you'll use a flashlight when you get the other out you'll see tracks maybe 1-1½" wide on either side of the inside of the housing that the new filter slides into. The OEM filter is in a rubber frame and this one doesn't have it but also doesn't appear to need it. Make sure the airflow arrows point in the same as the one you removed and slide it in working it up along the tracks. Once fully inserted, you should not have to trim or cut this despite what others have said about some filters, snap the housing cover back in place and you're good to go.BTW, watch your eyes when you remove the old filter, if it's dirty you may get some dirt or debris in your face so protective glasses/goggles may be wise or make sure your face is turned away when you remove it. If it's been awhile since you changed it or you live where it's dusty or lots of leaves and the like you've been warned, it'll be NASTY!

Not quite an exact replacement
The Mini OEM filter has a strong plastic housing that makes inserting it into the air box quite straightforward. The Bosch filter does not have this rigid frame, and as a result it is more difficult to insert it into the air box. It's also a tight fit, so that makes it more difficult too. Will probably try another brand of filter when I change this one next time.
