TrueFix tracks 12 GPS satellites plus two Wide-Area Augmentation Satellites (WAAS) to find your position on the map, so you'll always know where you are and where you're going. And the maps are easy to decipher thanks to the 2.9-by-2.2-inch high-resolution TFT LCD full-color display. The display's three guidance screens include TrueView, which shows a detailed view of the actual road layout, with upcoming turns and info on intersection maneuvers; MapView, with super-bright, easy-to-read, zoomable icons and text dispersed on a detailed, high-resolution map; and a Maneuver List, which tells you when and where to expect turns along the route. Meanwhile, Magellan's Trip Planner makes it easier than ever to navigate journeys with multiple destinations. Should you need to get gas, visit the ATM, and stop by the florist before heading to the restaurant for Mom's birthday, you can simply preprogram your trip, and the RoadMate 360 figures out the easiest route. It's much less hassle than re-entering destination points after every stop. Other ways of navigating include choosing the shortest route, finding a path with the fewest toll roads or freeways, or choosing a route with the most freeways. And should one route prove problematic because of heavy traffic or a closed road, the RoadMate 360 will automatically calculate a new path. Finally, the RoadMate 360 is remarkably easy to use. Installation is effortless--simply mount it on the windshield, plug in the power cord, and you're ready to go. The unit requires no additional wiring, and users can transfer the device from car to car or simply tuck it in a briefcase or suitcase when on the road. Once you sit down in your rental car, you'll have a comprehensive map at your fingertips. In addition, the unit automatically turns on each time you start the car, so you don't even need to mess with an on/off button. Additional features include an address book that stores up to 200 personal or business destinations per user (for a total of 600); an Instant Locate function that immediately describes your current location, a must in case of emergency or need for roadside assistance; and QuickSpell technology, which suggests street and city matches after you type the first few letters of a destination. The RoadMate 360 measures 6.2 by 3.1 by 1.2 inches (W by H by D) and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor. What's in the Box RoadMate 360 GPS, pre-installed Secure Digital (SD) card, windshield mount, power cord, and user's manual.

Not so great and support stinks
I did a lot of research on entry level GPS auto systems before deciding on this one. The final deciding point was the great price on Amazon and most of the reviews were decent. I travel a lot for work and wanted something that I could use while driving instead of referring to my mapquest print outs.I was so excited when this arrived, especially since we were leaving for a cross county trip the following day. There were problems with the unit right out of the box .. couldn't get a lock on my location and the unit kept shutting itself off. After about an hour, it looked like the unit had worked the bugs out and things were ok. I took the unit out for a spin that night and all was good until it kept powering down on my drive home. Nothing I did, aside from unplugging the unit and powering it back up, would keep the thing running for more than a minute at a time. Looking inside the box, I saw a note from Magellan asking the buyer to contact their support service instead of returning the unit. After some time on hold I was put in touch with a completely clueless support person in India. They said the unit was defective and I needed to send it back to them for repair. It would be back within 2-3 week and they would send it back to me, get this, free of charge. That got me and I tried to explain that this was a brand new unit and I would expect it not only to be repaired and sent back free of charge but a reimbursement for me having to ship it out to them. After going and back and forth about how they were going to fix it for me free of charge but not reimburse me for shipping, I told them thanks for nothing and I would return it to the store (Amazon). The great thing is that within a day of emailing Amazon about the problem, they had a new unit in the mail to me. They sent a pre-paid mailing label for me to return the old unit because it was defective. I haven't had a chance to try the new unit but I'm really hoping it works. While the old one was up and running it was great. The unit lets you know how many miles you have traveled, when turns are coming up and your exact location. I went off course a few times, on purpose, and the unit quickly recalculated a new path based on where I was. I did find that it wanted to take me a longer route for a few locations I put in but the path wasn't too much more out of the way than the short cuts I knew about. One of the downsides is there is no external volume control .. you have to page through several screens to adjust that. Lots of POI which was really helpful the one night I used it. One other concerning point was the unit couldn't find my father's house. He doesn't live in the boonies and has been in the same subdivision for 20 years. I had to drive to his house and save the location which is the only way it could locate the address. All in all .. great little unit for the price. A few downsides but for the price it meets all of my needs. Now if I can get a unit that works .. that will be the ultimate plus. If you need help, don't bother calling customer support unless you have time to kill for no help what-so-ever.**Update** Opened my new 360 and believe this was either a return or someone didn't know how to package it. I had to take the mounting plate off and rotate it because it was screwed on backwards and the wrapping around the power cord was ripped / taped back together. Called Amazon and they assured me they do not resell returned or refurbished equipment. Rather than take a chance and get a third unit, I'm going to cut my losses and just return this. Sometimes a deal is too good to be true.

Cons:Like many people already noted, this product has several problems.- The most annoying to me is that it cannot find many addresses. A significant percentage of the what I was trying to find. Most problems it has with numerical street names, or say a number on a hwy 7 and so on. Cannot find some regular street addresses as well. I know it is only looking in your "home" area (usually 4 states). I have read comments from others that say this is bs and there are ways to get around - the ways around don't help, just depends on your luck with the street you are looking for. To find that point on a map instead takes a really long time, since scrolling is very slow and periodically freezes up.- Second most annoying thing is that there is no way to ask it to find the shortest route, it only finds the fastest and then a bunch of useless options, like avoid highways, which I have never used.- Points of interest vocabulary is not very extensive. Just for example, by the name Sams Club it found only one for me in the next state, but not the one next to me; in a place that had a number of caves, it only found the most famous - so somewhat limited set of POIs.- Few times had navigation issues - like it would tell me to turn where there was no turn in sight at all and told me to turn right where I needed to turn left and then after I made that adviced turn it started recalculating the route - that's how I knew something's wrong. But such problems are numbered and in 99% of cases it's correct in its navigation.- When you drive through a construction area where they moved the road away, since it's not on the map Magellan Radmate gets lost and sometimes recalculates your route in a misterious ways, but then usually corrects again.- doesn't have text-to-speech ability, so it doesn't pronounce street names; only turn left, right and so on.- Does not have battery, so you can only use it in the car.Pros:- very precise and usually warns you just in time- there is a way to download map updates (once a year) and from what I understood free of charge (but the company that provides maps relies on people to tell them what's wrong and what addresses are missing, so the chances your problems will be resolved are slim I guess, unless you want to devote a significant amount of time to recording and reporting of the problems).- usually fast when locating itself (20-30 sec) and does not lose sattelites when you drive, which is a frequent problem for those PDA-style GPS devices. This was the first GPS I bought and if I knew of all the issues beforehand, I think I would have spent a little more money to get what more closely matches my needs.

Was great, then good, now OK
Bought this a few years ago and loved it so much that I bought a second identical unit for my mother.Initially it was fantastic but it seemed that as time passed, it took longer and longer to locate itself when I turned the unit on. At one time it took nearly 20 minutes to find its stationary location with an unobstructed sky view. Now it takes anywhere from a few seconds to 2-3 minutes. It ships with a USB cable for connecting to your computer which is absolutely useless since you can't update the maps in the unit and you can't plan a trip on your computer and upload it to the unit. I use the USB cable for my camera instead. After about 3 years the voice prompting has all but stopped working so I have to watch it more closely than I would like or I will miss turns. Also, the screen seems to update much slower than it did initially which can make you miss turns as well.I love the features the unit offers and the ease of use but I think when I buy another one, it will be one that I can update maps on and plan trips on PC and transfer to the unit.
