Superior Product, Once You Solve The Issues
Certainly the instructions are terrible, but are sewn into the package. I practiced twice in the drive way with a friend helping and we finally learned how to assemble it. I would never try this first time assembly on a beach. And it can't really be put up by one person, too many things need to be done at the same time. But with a helper, or an experienced helper, it goes up fairly fast, 8 minutes, maybe. First time took us 20 minutes. The PLUS is, this is one of the few shelters that is big enough. It is great inside. Also lets the beach sand be the floor, I love that and prefer it to a tent fabric floor. Those competing shelters with fabric floors risk puncture by the sharp points of folding chairs and much else. I think this the more practical design. Another Plus is that it is very light, 6 lbs or less, and folds tiny. Take down is a breeze, and fast. As many have stated in other reviews, you need better stakes -- buy them on Amazon, see other reviews to get the link. I did. I also purchased a rubber mallet for $4.50 from Amazon to drive the stakes in the sand or ground. With extra longer stakes, the rubber mallet, and some trial and error learning how to put it, it is a great and superior solution to shade and shelter. Wish they made it in blue, however. Not sure orange is the best color for all people. Me included.

Reviewed a bunch and this one seems to be the best for the money
We have used this four times now, and it is very nice if your'e not a sun person but like going to the beach. We just can't lie in the sun all day for many reasons. This allows us to sit on blankets or even on lawn chairs and be at the beach all day. It will seat four lawn chairs inside comfortably. By the way, don't be fooled - you still need sunscreen with the reflected sun off the sand and water, but sitting in this shelter, you do not get huge amounts of direct sun and heat. There are screened openings on the sides and back for airflow - very nice on a breezy day. One person can set this up, BUT - if there's a breeze, your'e going to need at least two people to set this up FOR SURE. This is a lightweight kite in the wind - I wouldn't try on a windy day to set this up without four people. Also - the little skinny spikes they give you to anchor this in the sand aren't much good - better to get some substantial plastic or non-corroding metal tent stakes or you'll be chasing this down the beach. The construction seems fairly sturdy, thought this is very lightweight and fits into a relatively small package - easy to transport. We bought a lightweight mallet with a stake puller and some heavy duty plastic stakes to go along with this.

It's unfortunate because I loved it when we set it up at home first
It is a kite at the beach. We live in Hawaii where the trade winds are usually fairly strong but we brought it on a very light day (no kite surfers - although we could have strapped this tent on and surfed:). We did everything perfectly - stakes, sand, set up - and there was no way it would have stood without the tent catching air. We had to physically hold it down. It's unfortunate because I loved it when we set it up at home first! If this is for use outside the beach setting, it's great. Roomy and breezy.. Perfect for a shady set up in a park or field. But the large size is what sets it up for beach failure.. The draft just lifts the ceiling of the tent. Set up took two people.. I tried alone at first and that didn't work. Just check youtube videos bc provided instructions are ambiguous. If it didn't say beach in the title my star rating would be quite different. Do not buy for the beach. Sol Cabana is the way to go. Smaller but far more steady in wind.

Great for the beach
We bought this for a beach trip, hoping it would allow the kids to play in the sand while still playing in the shade. It worked great. There was a very stiff breeze (WIND!) the first day we set it up but it held up well. The stakes are pretty thin so if the ground is at all hard you may want to buy beefier stakes. The pockets that you fill with sand are pretty small but as long as there are aren't gale-force winds, they keep the flaps down well. We easily fit all of our stuff, a couple adults and a couple kids at a time. It looked like the Taj Mahal on the beach next to the small shelters other beach dwellers bought. Definitely well made and worth the money. It is very easy to set up and put away.

So easy to put up
So easy to put up. But after getting it up, filling the sand bags just before getting it staked down, a little gust of wind snapped one of the legs rendering it useless for our beach vacation. Hopefully Texsport will replace the leg!
