My keep connect worked great the first two times the power went out, but now it dosen't reset itself. How do i fix this?
How does it check for internet connection? Pings can go through, but not http or https requests.
Does this work and reset the modem after a power outage? I just had a power outage and i waited for the plug to reset the modem, which did not happen.
Will it keep retrying on a lengthy outage?

Solid WiFi signal, reliable power reset

No Ethernet, only WiFi, but runs stable. Setup was a bit annoying as the instructions are not clear whether to start with an app or not. No false shut offs in the two plus weeks I’ve been running it. Only one legitimate shut down has been triggered (by a test) and I got a text notification (if you set this up). Default trigger time is a while, like 4 minutes of no internet before a restart, kind of long, but I suppose it needs to be long enough for the modem to restart without powering down before it can catch up. I changed up my internet after getting this (replaced a router) and this did not require me to reset the device. It just logged back on once the same named WiFi network was restored. I like that I haven’t had to reset this device or set it back up at all. No Ethernet plug is a drag but the WiFi connection is stable and it works like it’s supposed to, so get this if you need it.

The Keep Plug is great.

Setting up the Keep plug was incredibly simple. We connected our cable modem and Wi-Fi router, and it's worked flawlessly ever since. Now, we no longer experience disruptive internet connection drops. The peace of mind it provides is invaluable, making it a worthwhile purchase.

Resets internet router when I am unable (or just unwilling) to do so....

This works as intended. Setup was not very difficult, maybe not entirely self-explanatory how to choose options but defaults are probably fine for most people. I got this a couple of months ahead of a three-week international trip during which I wanted to be able to monitor HVAC at home as well as cameras, so I could try it out before the trip. Of course, I intentionally interrupted the internet by unplugging the cable to see how it works, and it did as expected. I did not lose internet connectivity with my home during that 3 week trip, which probably wouldn't have happened with my crappy and quirky home modem otherwise. In the 5 months I've been using this, it has been called upon to reset the internet connection 7 times. That is seven trips to the basement to cycle the plugs I did not have to do, including any trips I could not have made while I was away on vacation. After each reset and when internet is restored, it emails me telling me that it had done so, with a cumulative count of how many times it has done so (that is where the 7-count comes from). During the times that I was at home when the internet went down, it might have taken 5 to 10 minutes by the time it detected the fault, cycled the power, and then the modems had fully reset themselves. Not a big deal if the main reason is to be able to access remote devices when I am away from home.In my case, I have a U-verse gateway modem, cascaded into an Asus wireless/wired router. The Asus usually fails, but the Keep Connect cycles power to both modems at the same time. Fortunately, it does work when it powers both of them back up simultaneously, and some minutes later internet comes back. I could probably toy with the options to make it detect more quickly and reset sooner, but don't want to bother since the main goal is that it resets when I am not home and so my wife doesn't have to worry that I won't be home to reset it when it goes down each time.I guess it beats paying many times more money just to get a more reliable commercial-grade modem at home, I just use a cheap one and this Keep Connect and my connection is pretty reliable (or reliably resets...).

Works well, very configurable, but a tad expensive

Overall, this device works well. It is highly configurable and does exactly what it says it will do. I have another device that is similar to this that I used for a long time, but that device is not configurable at all. I figured that at some point that my original device was going to stop working so I began to investigate other options and settled for this device. For those who don’t know what this device is let me offer a brief explanation: It is device that plugs into the wall outlet and then you plug your modem/router into it. It repeatedly attempts to ping various websites at user-defined intervals. As long as it is successful in doing so, then it assumes that all is well and it does nothing. If, however, it is unable to reach a website or an IP address then it will cut power to whatever is plugged into it (typically the modem and router) and then turn power back on after a user-defined period of time. It will then repeat the test, and repeatedly shut itself off for a user defined number of times. The idea, is of course, that occasionally it is necessary to power cycle modems and routers if they aren’t working. This is a great feature because it works autonomously. If no one is home it keeps on working, which is great when you are at work or on the road. Especially since if you’re like me your home is a “Smart Home” and has cameras and a ton of IoT devices that need an active internet connection to work.As I said it is highly configurable. You can choose which websites it “pings” and how long to keep trying before it triggers a reset of itself. I just have 2 gripes about this device. The first being that if you want to trigger a reset it is not immediate. It can take up to 5 minutes for it to take effect. I think that’s because it has to go though a cloud based server which sends the request to the device. Not a huge deal, but a bit of an inconvenience at times. The 2nd and definitely the biggest complaint of mine is that in order to get the full utilization out of this device it requires a subscription to their service which I believe is $20/year. Not a huge amount, but it’s an added expense. However, as I said, it is highly configurable. The device that I used before this was a “one size fits all” and was not configurable. For some people it may not have worked well at all. For example, it would shut itself off when it couldn’t ping a website (who knows what website that even was??), and would remain off for I think it was 30 seconds. Then it would turn back on and would not attempt a restart for at least a few minutes. However, some people’s internet may have taken longer than that to fully restore itself and therefore it would be constantly restarting itself. This device does NOT have that issue. You can fully configure it however you need to, and I believe you can also have two of these devices that work in tandem with each other. If, for example, you need the first device to power off first and remain off for a period of time and then the 2nd device to restart at later time this unit can do that.It works well and is very configurable, I just wish I could remotely control it without having to pay the subscription.
