I like the vented mesh portion because it helps with dispersing the body heat heats trap. I like the adjustment strap in the hat band. I like the pony tail port because it keeps the hair OFF my neck. Pony tail largely covers visible portion of the adjustable strap. It has the chinstrap, if you've ever had you hat blow away into traffic, you know what I'm talking about! The adjustment strap also helps the hat stay on, as does having my pony tail through the port. The chin strap helps keep wind from stealing the hat backwards, the pony tail helps keep it on when the wind come from the other direction. Finally a functional use for my hair!Time will tell how well the Solaris hat's chin strap is attached. My last hat was from Mission and the strap broke on one side way too easily out of no where. I kept the other end zipped in a pocket or pinned to my shirt for a time, until the other side snapped. Without a strap, the wind stole my Mission hat during a storm in Washington DC. By the time I got my umbrella sorted when the wind turned that inside out, the Mission hat was nowhere to be found.I like this hat better than I did that hat, and the price is better, too.

Nice hat. Love the ponytail opening. Runs a little larger than other similar hats, so this fits me better. Had to return others as they were too small and tight on my head. Keeps my head cool as well.

I have tried several different hats like this on Amazon. Most arrive folded and the brims appear to have cardboard on the inside, which maintain the creases of any folding and cause the brim to fold and flop in weird ways.This hat appears to be made with thick fabric interfacing, instead of cardboard, on the inside. It was also mailed flat, so it didn't have any ceases in the brim, which is a huge yay! When I try to fold the hat, it doesn't crease.I brought the style with the ponytail hole. The only thing I don't like about the hat is the styling of the cap, which slopes like a cowboy hat and is slightly shallow. It probably works well for someone with a small head. It doesn't look bad on someone with a bigger head, but I feel like this hat would work best for people with small heads.

We got this hat to go hiking, though it's great for any outdoor activity. I like the wide brim that keeps the sun off from any direction. It never got hot as we hiked up and down the mountains (sometimes chasing kids back and forth). The hole for the hair is a great way to keep the hair off your neck and keep you cooler, as well as keeping your hair out of your face. It folds up well to pack more efficiently, and there are plenty of color options.Overall, it's a great hat and doesn't cost a lot. That's a win for me!

I liked the sun protection and style of this hat, but the clip for adjusting it did not stay closed so it was a pain. Maybe this one was just defective.

This hat is very comfortable. Reflects the sun and has good airflow. The wide brim gives good coverage.

At first glance, the hat appears nice and well constructed. When I placed it on my head, I immediately realized that was a false impression. The hat's top was sewn into the brim about 10% off center. As you can see in the photo, the pencil marks the center of the top. One chin strap is forward from this line and the other back. If one were to draw a line through the longest diameter of the oval of the brim, the line would be diagonal to the pencil, not perpendicular. This throws off the way the hat sits and appears on the head. Maybe I got a lemon. Returning for a refund and will be ordering a different brand.

This hat was not right for me. It still felt too snug on my big head. It fit technically just not as comfortably as expected from description. However, their customer service is excellent! They refunded me and did not require a return. I felt bad about that. I would have gladly returned the hat. Great to do business with.
