Starts Out Fun, But...
While this is a fun game, with nice graphics, it's more akin to indie games you'd find on PSN or the Nintendo E-Shop, and not a released retail console game, handheld or otherwise. That said, the current price is way too expensive. I'd expect this to be about half the price, based on the current quality of downloadable games. This fits into the same category as games such as Guacamele, SteamWorld Dig, Shantae, etc, and those games were much less expensive, and more on point with a reasonable price.Regardless of the high price, as stated, it is fun, and if you like games like Yoshi's Island, Donkey Kong Country, or any of the games mentioned above, it's a safe bet you'll find some enjoyment with this game. If simply to pass the time. I'm not sorry I purchased it, but I do feel as though a paid way too much.Edit 5/12/14:My original review is no longer completely accurate. As you progress in the game and the levels get harder, you start to realize the control scheme of this game leaves a lot to be desired, and cannot be customized. The weapons shoot/activate way too slowly, and it's not on par with the speed the rest of the game. By the time your projectile hits the enemy you're targeting, you've been shot by other enemies who's bullets move much faster than yours. The levels start to get so busy, you lose track and half the time have no idea what's damaging and/or killing you. Additionally, it's not clear cut what's solid ground and wha'ts not, so you spend a lot of time falling. You think you're jumping to a platform you can stand on, but you're not, it just looks like one, and this isn't intentional. It gets extremely frustrating, and less fun.Had I played the amount I've played now, prior to buying the game, I would not have purchased it. I don't mind hard games, but this one is just too busy the further you progress. You can't avoid damage if you don't see it coming, and that alone makes this a game no longer worth playing. The fun disappeared quickly. It's also extremely repetitive, you do the same thing over and over.On a more nitpicky note, since I've become so frustrated with the game, everything about it is starting to bug me, and that includes the unbelievable slow initial load time. I overlooked it before, but now that I'm irrationally agitated, it seems to bother me more and more.
