My manual steering box has 5 inches of play at the steering wheel, what is worn for this to happen?

The best way to find out what's worn is to make sure the vehicle is secured from rolling (put in Park, or Parking brake applied) then have an assistant turn the wheel back and forth while you look from underneath at your steering components id: tie rods, tie rod ends, pitman arm, center link joints depending on what type of steering you have. Lastly remember that your lower steering column shaft usually uses some kind of flexible (usually rubber) coupling to reduce vibrations to the wheel... and when these break or wear out they can result in a lot of play.

Will this work for f250 2008

Not by a long shot. It's compatible with the Saginaw steering box used in GM and Jeep products from the 1970s through mid 90s. Oh, and the IH Scout.

Will this kit work on a 68-72 Chevelle steering box?

Good morning Tyler, No, the 8522 Steering Gear Seal Kit will not fit the 1978-1968 Chev. Chevelles since the input shaft seal would be too small (3/4" I.D.) You will require our part number 7858 that will have the 13/16" I.D. Input Shaft seal.

Used this kit to rebuild a Grand Cherokee steering box. There are several videos that show how to rebuild. This kit took all the looseness out of the gear box. Hardest part was removing the pitman arm.
