Ridiculously perfect
I've had a 16GB Firefly for several years. Nary a problem with it. Just decided to upgrade to 32GB. I went first with the V10, thinking that a newer product would be a better product. Not even close. The write speed on the V10 doesn't have anything on the Firefly. For practical comparison, I run a genealogy program off whatever flash drive I'm carrying around. With the V10, the program freezes for several seconds while details are saved; both Firefly drives saved the info immediately, no delay. The 32 GB Firefly is smaller than the 32 GB V10 - a bonus when you've got a key chain full of crap. Also, this cap design is far superior to any other (and so simple!). It's snug, and I've never had the drive come out of the cap while it was on a key ring. Not sure why this line seems to have been discontinued, just happy I bought the 32GB even though I'd also bought the 32GB V10. Love my Firefly! (and yes, I'm a Browncoat!)

Small Durable Reliable
I Bought a 2gig back in the Fall of 2006.. Loved it so much I bought a 4 gig to match... loved them both so much I just bought this 16gig. Only because they don't make a 32. Gushing aside, This is a review of any one or all of them. The Size is very handy.. I've owned larger drives and smaller ones this seems a perfect in between. The blue indicator light is easily visible to let you know when the drive is busy. The clear cap enhances the effect though I never use mine. The plastic construction seems cheap and flimsy and in someways is. The seam where the 2 halves of the shell meet has come apart a couple times 2-3 drops of superglue have fixed that... I keep them in a Caselogic neoprene sleeve that dangles from my laptop consequently I accidentally shut it in my refrigerator door once and in my frustration at the door not closing I kicked it. I pretty much smashed the 4 gig firefly, the shell came apart in its 3 pieces and one of the halves was creased. but it still snapped back in place and has been working fine.

Unique, and great performer
Unlike all the other usb thumb drives, this 16GB Firefly shares a unique feature. The cap/holder remains on your keychain. The drive pulls out to use, and when you go to replace the cap and carry it around, that cap is still on your keychain, so you won't lose it!Besides that unique feature of all the Lexar Fireflies, it's a great performer. Very quick read and write compared to several other brands I've used. Moreover, using easily available utilities, it can be set as a non-removeable drive. This allows it to be partitioned, backed up, whatever. I set a small partition for running a backup program as a boot drive, and the other 98% as a storage device. So, I can backup with and to this usb drive. (You can still use the windows remove usb device to unmount it as a usb device.)It does what no other has been able to do by being easy to carry, partition, and bootable all at the same time.

Good cheap throwaround USB memory stick. Stable, medium read speeds, slow write speeds.
Whenever I get new flash memory, I always run a suite of test software to validate authenticity and integrity of the memory. If the memory passes a few days of nonstop testing, it can usually be trusted to reliably hold data and files.- H2testw v1.4 (several times) validated authenticity of the card, memory capacity, and memory integrity- chkflsh v1.16 (several times) validated memory capacity and memory integrity- FlashDriveTester v1.14 (several times) validated memory capacity and memory integrity- Anvil's Storage Utility 1.1.0 benchmarkOn Anvil's benchmark with 1GB test size, the Lexar scored 124 (read) 4.8 (write) for 129 (composite). The actual speed numbers were about 20MB/s (read) and 4.7MB/s (write). In summary:- This USB memory stick passed several days of nonstop grueling memory integrity tests. I've had no problems whatsoever with this product.- The read speed is similar to a top-line SanDisk SD Class-10 card.- The write speed is very slow.

Beware of the flashing red light
I bought this flash drive in order to record music on it from CDs through our computer and play said music in on the car radio. I knew that there was a red light on the end of it that flashes while recording. What I did not know was that the same red light flashes when playing said recordings. This feature is most annoying while playing the music on the car radio. The flash drive plugs into the face of our Pioneer radio, and driving with this flashing red light is not acceptable and possibly a dangerous distraction.Otherwise the unit seems to function flawlessly. I plan to keep the flash drive and record data on it for exclusive use with the computer.

Good quality!
These are pretty standard USB drives, its not screaming fast or anything. I buy Lexar firefly drives because the ones I have owned for years have handled tons of abuse and all still work (though some are painfully small). They are designed with the bell hard plastic cap, its great because when you walk away, your keys banging on the bell make a different sound and they are louder, for me it means I hear that and know the drive is missing, I have grown to really appreciate that, not sure if its a feature or an accident but it saved a few drives.Additionally, this one has already been through the wash and the dryer 3 times, when I see that that happened, I don't take it apart or freak out, I know its going to work the next time I need it because they always have. Some of the older ones have been left in direct sun in a hot car for hours, drenched, washed, dropped in sticky beverages, lost in and recovered from a muddy backyard, and all of them still work (Even the 2 GB firefly that was the biggest available at that time, which is really old at this point).

A few uses. Now it's broken and won't mount.
I didn't use it more than a few times. It's never been out of a drawer for more than a few hours. Now it won't mount. It's useless now. I hate USB flash drives. I've never had one to last more than a few months.
