So quiet I thought it was defective
This air pump is so quiet! I almost bought an Eheim at more than twice the price because reviews rated it the quietest. Thankfully I looked at this one because I really like Fluval products, I run their filter, heater and light and all work extremely well. This pump is so quiet that when I first plugged it in I thought it was either broken or there was an on off switch I missed. While looking for that switch I discovered there was air coming out the output. Wide open you can barely hear it, at reduced volume where I run it, you can't hear it at all. My Fluval C4 HOB filter is louder than this air pump at full output and I don't consider that filter loud at all.If there was anything negative I could say it would be that it doesn't have dual outputs which I would normally expect from a company's highest end air pump. Only the q1 has dual outputs and it is a lower output pump. One upside of the Eheim at it's elevated price is it does come with air hose and 2 really nice air diffusers while the Fluvals come with nothing.Bottom line, if you want an almost silent air pump at a really good price this is the one to buy!

soft fine bubbles are better than large ones
Quiet and WAY strong! beware of the size of the pump according to your tank, don't purchase a pump rated for an 80 gallon tank if you're tank is small as it will produce very strong bubbling that will really stress your fish, I learned this the hard way! soft fine bubbles are better than large ones, if your tank is large/wide enough you can get away with a fine bubble wand connected to this, but in a narrow tank this pump will be way too strong giving the fish no areas of still water for them to rest and relax in. This pump is excellent, I had intended to use it for my 30 gallon tank but had to disconnect it because my fancy goldie was getting sick from stress, way too strong. When I turned the bubbles off he recovered in 2 days and was back to normal. I have since purchased a 75 gallon tank that is 4 feet wide, so now the pump goes great with it without problems! :) no more stressed goldie!

Noise OK, Powerful, Huge Form, Only one outlets, Will Occasionally Vibrate
There are really only three main things people care about with air pumps:a) How much noise do they make? This isn't anywhere near quiet, but it is generally low and a steady hum, very nice if in a cabinet, but it will occasionally start vibrating causing the noise to briefly double. Still, not that bad. Would I prefer something quieter? Yes, but I'm not sure there is a better product out there.b) How much air does it actually pump and can it handle multiple large stones and longer tubing and water pressure? This seems overpowered to handle a t-connector with check valves and two medium airstones in a 40gallon turtle tank. I'm putting in larger stones now because the current ones are almost lifting off the floor despite being heavy and slightly covered with rocks. Intense bubble action.c) How much power does it use and how big is it? This is big, not sure about the power. It still fits easily into any small aquarium cabinet. The power coord is decent size. Air tubing fits easily in.

Best Air Pump I've Owned
I'm just an aquarium novice. I have a 75 gallon salt water set up. I've been though multiple air pumps from other brands. They're air output have been average, they're very loud, and they didn't last very long. This thing is amazing. I have a multi valve connection on mine that splits the airflow and it still has enough power to keep the bubbles moving great. It's so quite that I don't even know it's there and has zero vibrations. And best of all, I've had this for a few years now without a single problem. I would definitely recommend this product.

fluval is the way to go
of all the air pumps i own this own is the strongest, most silent one, the best, although its way too expensive it does not move around or make a whole lot of noise if touching: another pump, wall, container, tank or whatever else you can have next to it. i first use it to pump for 2 air stones in 2 different 40 gallon tanks on a 2 shelves unit, the tank in the first "floor" of the shelf unit had more pressure and if i put it on the highest setting only the one in the first floor pumped air out, also if the one in the first floor was empty of water the top one did not receive air, so i left this pump for the bottom tank and repurpose a different pump for the one on top. i would recommend maybe using a air line valve per air line division in the case you actually want to use it in 2 tanks and take in mind the force/ wattage of the pump so it can work properly, i only used a Y shape connector and 2 check valves in each division air line.

Great option for most aquariums
Have had many aquarium air pumps over the years most that were much more expensive than this one. Due to failure of another one of my pumps finally decided to give this Fluval pump a try. Was surprised and very pleased with the look, sound and power of the pump. Is very quiet on the highest setting and puts out an amazing amount of air compared to my larger and more expensive "deep water" pumps. Couldn't be more pleased with this pump and given the quality of Fluval products in general am sure that the reliability of this pump won't disappoint going forward.

Very powerful, but loud.
Super powerful (and quite large) air pump. I love that. BUT....it’s loud. Like “I can’t take it!”, loud. It’s not a rattle but a loud hum. I can hear it from outside the room the aquarium is in (our home office). I decided to put it in the cabinet to muffle the sound, but that was pointless. This is the first larger pump I’ve has so I’m not sure how normal that is. I’ll have to try a couple others....as this one can’t stay.

Lasted 5 years
The media could not be loaded. Quiet, efficient, and strong is how I would describe this pump for its first 3 years. After 3 years of nonstop use, one side stopped pumping air, but the good side was enough for my purposes. Today, 2 years after the first failure, the second side started to slow. It’s pumping, but nowhere near the output it used to. So for 5 total years, it served well enough. I opened it up to see if the intake was clogged and I found pieces of plastic washers. I would still recommend it.

It's Quiet - for an air pump
The amount of air pumped is great, and very consistent. The sound is very consistent, like a gentle hum, but if you are sensitive to environmental noise, I would still suggest putting it in a drawer or a cupboard, and getting enough air tubing to put it in a place you won't hear the motor.I prefer to hear the bubbles instead of the motor whir. :)

silencieuse
1 ère que j'ai, qui fait presque pas de bruit. Pourtant grosse, prévu pour aquarium jusqu'à 600l . Très satisfais pour l'instant , on verra dans le temps.
