Dehumidifier 12 DR-12

I've had one of these for over 10 years now and purchased this one as a spare in case the original ever breaks.These work extremely well. The only downside is that they are powered by 120V A/C so you have to run a wire inside your safe. Some safes have a power strip already inside, some have punch-out holes to run cords, and some have no holes. You should figure out what your safe has before you order.You have to buy the right length rod to match the interior air volume of your safe. They thought this out for the person that has had it installed for awhile and would not be able to remove old unit. Just kill the power to the wall plug. Cut the cord and install a female plug end to the old cord and then use new plug end they send to plug into old wiring. The gun safe had sunk into the carpet which would make moving it very difficult so this was an easy swap.

I recently bought a Cannon 24 gun safe which has a built in power receptacle inside the safe. As I read the sizing guidelines for this dehumidifier , I wasn't sure if this size would work or if I would need to go one size larger. So far (assuming my hydrometer is accurate) this is an ideal size for my needs as the dehumidifier keeps the moisture in the ideal range. Also I was a bit concerned with having anything in close proximity to this heat source. Although this is somewhat warm to the touch, there would not appear to be any concern with damaging electronics and other valuables.

This new rod replaced the one I bought in 1996!! This is an excellent long lasting product that works great!!!

When I first purchased my gun safe I bought one of these and it has worked great for a long time. It recently stopped working and I purchased the same one as the first was well worth the money.

Purchased a Drirod in June 2010 for my gun safe and as of December 15 it no longer heats. Product comes with a lifetime guarantee however you need to send it to manufacturer along with shipping and handling,so by the time I pay to have it shipped to and from I could walk into a store and buy another one,but why would I do that when they only last 6 months?

Worked for 2 years, then quit. Actually it burned out and evidently almost burned up. I tried to contact DRI-ROD both by phone and internet, but no repsonse from either media, so I disassembled it. It was very black and very crispy inside. Fortunately there was no damage to the safe or its contents. I would stay away from this product and company. I suspect a 9w light bulb will be a far better alternative.
