what is included in the box? does it comes with manual / pictures?

Inside the box are 6 microphone clamps w/ 16 ft leads that are color-coded, a control unit, headphones, velcro straps, nylon straps, a 9-volt battery, a vinyl pouch, and a location identifier note pad w/ 25 sheets. The instruction manual is a single sheet with a list of contents and some suggestions for use. The use of this device is not very complicated and very intuitive in it's use. If you hear a noise coming from underneath a vehicle, put the vehicle up in the air, attach the microphone leads in various locations that you might think are making the noise and have one person drive the vehicle while another listens to each sensor. Repeat this procedure until you narrow it down to the source.

Would this work well to locate muffler rattles and vibrations, being that mufflers normally vibrate as they are?

It might help pinpoint a muffler rattle, but usually I check any exhaust noise and rattles with a rubber mallet. The ChassisEAR is better at detecting noises that only occur when the vehicle is moving on the road.

Does this unit have volume or sensitivity control?

Yes it has a volume control that’s used as a sensitivity control .also has individual channels you switch in between to pin point noise. Like you can have a clamp on a strut and one on a spring and sway bar link etc and switch channels to see which is loudest to determine where the noise is coming from.

What is the difference between the steelman 06300 and this 06600 electronic squeak and rattle finder ?
