Installs nicely, looks great, lights decent
First off, I'm somewhat pissed that I have my new weber genesis sitting in the garage and can't use it until my backyard gets done. That being said, I got bored and decided to shop accessories for it. I bought the grille light after reading several reviews and even though many people said to get two, I am smarter than the average person (and even the not so average person) so I just bought one. It installs easily and you can pretty much figure it out right out of the box. If you can't, you probably shouldn't be grilling anyway. The only tricky part is the battery cap twists but didn't pop out. I just used a pair of channel locks and pulled the cap off.The light is pretty sufficient but I can see why most people recommended to get two, so it turns out I'm not so smart after all (since I ordered another). One light is almost a teaser as it casts a nice soothing glow on your grilling area which is romantic and all, but you're not making love to your steak, you're cooking it. At $24 each, it's almost pointless to not buy two, especially if you already paid the money for a nice Weber grille. The light does exactly what it's supposed to do and for those people having problems with it not turning off when the lid is closed, I would recommend not procreating. All you do is rotate the light housing on the handle (with the lid closed) until the light goes out. It's really that simple. The directions are ok but you really shouldn't need them, albeit determining which housing to use for your grille handle. All in all a good light and I don't know how long the batteries will last because my friggin backyard isn't finished yet and I haven't used the damn thing. Looks great in my garage though.

Warning!!! Only good for specific grills. Check with Weber before buying.
Check with Weber customer service before purchasing this product. The product itself is fine. I was so happy with the first one that I bought a second one to have more light for evening grilling. Recently, both lights melted while I was cooking on high heat. I assumed that this was Weber's responsibility for a shoddy product. After contacting them I discovered that this light is not recommended for use with my specific grill (the Genesis) and for various others. There is no mention in the product description that this product can only be used with specific grill models – either from Amazon or V.O. Apertif (the seller). As a result, I seem to be out $40+ dollars and still in need of a good grill light. Other than writing this review, I don't see any other way of raising this issue with Amazon.Update: This to update my review of the third party seller - which I thought was V.O. Apertif (from the Amazon page) but corresponded with me through the name Kaari Fairy. I'm not sure why the names differ, but shortly after posting my original review Kaari Fairy contacted me and promptly refunded me for both lights. I'm revising my rating to reflect the excellent customer service I received. Thanks guys! I do want to re-emphasize that you must check with Weber to find out if this light is compatible with your specific grill. If it is, it's a great little light. Wish it worked for my grill...

BEWARE: Weber has TWO totally different 7516 lights
First the review, then a note of caution. Plus a 2020 update at the end.I have a new (2015) Weber Spirit E310 grill (love it), and I wanted a light for it. My first purchase was the Kona SUPERMAX BBQ Grill Light, based on many good reviews as well as many nearly identical lights on the market. It thought it must be good, but I am baffled at how anyone can be pleased with it for a grill. It mounts easily and is bright (10 LEDs), so no argument there. But at least on my Weber there is no way to mount it without getting in the way of the cover, knobs, or both. Worse yet, there is no way to position it to light the grill when open without shining directly into your eyes. It is like trying to light the grill with the headlights of a car aimed directly at you. Finally, there is no sensor. It must be manually turned on and off every time you open/close the grill. And turning it on to its brightest setting of 3 levels requires hitting the switch 3 times every time to turn it on, then once to turn it off. It's a good light, but not for my grill. I have found another use for it (under a counter) where it actually is ideal, so I have not returned it to Amazon. The above was a short review of the Kona light. The Weber 7516 is GREAT. It mounts reasonably easily (two screws), positions with zero interference of the knobs or cover, lights the entire grill surface, does not shine in my eyes at all, and turns on/off automatically when the lid is opened/closed. I grilled with it last night and basically forgot it was there, but for the first time ever I had no need to continually re-position the entire grill to let the porch light hit the areas of interest. In other words, grilling without any thoughts about lighting. All my attention was on the food.If the grill is left open or closed for 30 minutes, the light deactivates and turns off. There is a button to reactivate it to wake it up. There is no manual on/off switch, and that is my main criticism and why I give it 4 stars, not 5. If I am finished grilling and choose to leave the grill open to cool, I have no need for light, but it will nevertheless stay on using 30 minutes of battery life needlessly. I can live with that, but it seems silly not to have a manual override switch. Also, some might criticize it's lack of brightness, and it is not tremendously bright, but for me it is exactly bright enough not to make the food look unnaturally shiny. I can see the entire surface just fine. Now the caveat: Weber has brilliantly produced two entirely different 7516 lights. Same model, different lights. I confirmed this with Weber. The one shown here on Amazon is the new completely redesigned 7516 light, which includes batteries and works as I described. The older discontinued 7516 is (Weber says) still plentiful in the marketplace, along with the new version. The reviews here unfortunately cover both models, but they are really not even the same product, so it's confusing. The old one is WAY different. It includes (they say) a plethora of brackets for various grills, has a manual on/off switch, and does not include batteries. The NEW model has no multiple-choice brackets to deal with, has no manual on/off switch (other than the wake button), and DOES include batteries. I've even seen some websites picturing the new model, and then promoting it with a video showing the old model. The UPC for the new model is 077924074295. I don't know whether the UPC is different than the old model's code. The new model is gray, and does not have "Weber" prominently on the front - just a little grill icon.So bottom line: I hated the Kona for my grill, love the NEW Weber 7516 light, but I do wish it had a manual on/off switch.MAY 2020 UPDATE: I still love this light. I have not had any of the issues others have mentioned. It didn't melt, and I can't see how it would. It didn't take in water, but I do keep the grill covered when not in use. I've changed the batteries a few times. And best of all, I can see what I'm cooking. Still wouldn't mind an on/off switch, but I'm over it. Just ordered one for my daughter and son-in-law who just bought a Weber Spirit 330. Surprise!
