An excellent tool.
I bought this for certain jobs where it is either impossible or very inconvenient to plug a long cord into a wall outlet. I realized that the torque would not match the oomph of my AC powered unit. I had this for several weeks now, and I found myself using it more than I use the AC unit. It is so handy and quick to use. It can handle most tasks I ask it to perform. Recently, I used it twice almost everyday for two weeks to do a lengthy outside job. By the time the battery fizzled out, my hand got tired and I had to take a break anyway. The Lithium Ion battery it came with recharges in about an hour which just fine by me. During the work it frequently got hot. It doesn't seem to care. It keeps on going and going and going like the famous battery rabbit. I highly recommend this unit to anyone who needs a quick and handy battery operated Dremel with some power.

Perfect for lighter-duty rotary work. Easy and fast to set up and use.
Worried how useful this would be after some of the reviews. But I use it where the lower speed is helpful on models and other things. I have a corded Dremel that is great for relatively heavy-duty rotary work, but needed a lighter cordless unit for quick lower-speed work. This unit has paid for itself already. It's easy to grab a cordless device, insert a tool and finish a job before you could get the corded unit out, find an extension cord, and get set up. Just use it for things within its capability - I wouldn't cut metals with it or do heavier work like that - it may perform but that's not what I bought it for.It takes all the chucks, tools, and attachments my corded unit takes, so there was no expense there. Typical use - do you have a 3-way lamp that flickers on high setting? Use the cordless Dremel to buff the contacts inside the socket and your problems will go away. Fine dive, nicely packaged, and ready to go.

Dremel Versatility -- Without The Cord !!
Found this Cordless Dremel tool as a replacement for a 25-year-old corded model, and the new 8100-N/21 fits my needs and my budget perfectly.Comes with a black plastic case, one (1) Lithium-ion battery, a quick charger, and a bag of assorted sanding/grinding/polishing accessories.First charge took only 35 minutes, and the tool ran for 80 minutes at about 1/2 -power before it started to slow down.I use the Dremel for grinding, de-burring, sanding, and polishing of small auto and truck parts and household appliances.Wife tried it on the dog's nails, and was impressed with the ease of use and the excellent results. Doggie never flinched or wimpered, which is great news, since she always balked at "nail time" !We plan to use the new Dremel often, so I ordered the 110-piece Dremel Accessories Kit so we can do whatever, whenever.Got the whole deal - Dremel tool and accessory kit for for less than 100 clams, right here at Amazon. My order arrived promptly, and in perfect conditon.

Most units are defective and extremely cheap
I don't provide many reviews but when I do there deserving of the rating...This is 1-star trash...Well, let me start off by saying I have owned this tool less than 2 years and it has about 5-7 minutes of operation. Like a lot of folks my tool turns-off randomly too. It's not a safe defect. Furthermore, it's clear the tool has bad bearing because during normal operation it's loud and makes grinding noises.I asked the manufacturer for a replacement and I have not received a response. Keep your money safe from junk and buy something else. Keep this in mind too, the last "corded" dremel I used was over 30 years old and ran without issue.

Package Contents and Initial Impression
Ok, It was driving me crazy that I couldn't find what this actually came with. So I ordered the 160 piece (710-05) accessory kit just in case. I honestly, probably, didn't need to do that. The Dremel Itself comes with a few accessories that will get most people started and satisfied. If you need a specific tool, then buy that one. Without Further ado, the content of my package.- 1 black 2 snap box which doubles as a carrying/storage case. Decent quality.- 3 1-1/4"x1/8" Cut-Off Wheels- 1 3/16"x1/8" Silicon Carbide Grinding Stone- 1 3/8"x1/8" Aluminum Oxide Grinding Stone (Cylinder)- 1 3/8"x1/8" Aluminum Oxide Grinding Stone (Cone)- 1 3/4"x1/8" Bristle Brush- 2 1/2"x1/8" Felt Polishing Wheel- 1 Polishing Compound (bar)- 1 1/2"x1/8" Sanding Drum Mandrel- 3 1/2"x1/8" 60 Grit Sanding Bands- 3 1/2"x1/8 120 Grit Sanding Bands- 3 1/2"x1/8 240 Grit Sanding Bands- 1 1/8" Shank Mandrel (This one looks like a screw on top of a mandrill, for felt tips with no hole in the middle)- 1 1/8" Shank Mandrel (This one is an unscrew loader for bits/tips with holes in them)- 1 Bit Wrench- 1 Easy Twist Cap- 1 Dremel 8v Variable speed Rotary Tool- 1 1 Hour Charger- 1 8v Lithium Ion Battery- 1 User Guide / Instruction booklet. Does provide some helpful hints for first timers / Seasoned pros.Hope this helps your decision. The Tool itself is amazing so far and the only reason I gave it a 4 is because initially it seemed as though the bits did not fit into the shaft. It took a wee bit of muscle to actually get the bit in there, and the instructions provided no such information. I thought I had gotten the wrong bits at first.
