Love them!
These are my go to shoes for hiking, going to the gym, biking, anything active, and just plain walking around campus! My friend recommended them to me as a 'minimal shoe', close to not wearing anything. Considering that I walk around barefoot all the time I would agree. It is a shoe, but it's a minimal, bendy, flexy awesome shoe. There is actually very little arch support or padding in the shoe (which is what I was hoping for), just the bottom, which makes for a more realistic feel, and that made me happy! But the fit is just slightly off. I bought these shoes a few months ago at my regular, average, size I try on most - 7.5 . They were a little snug. I say snug because my feet never hurt from wearing them, and I never had blisters, but there really wasnt even a need for laces - they were snug. Now after a whole semester of using them they are much more comfortable and have stretched accordingly. I suppose the snug feel might be for more emphasis on a real strike or more realistic feel, being so conforming, and with that thought, if I ever bought these again I would order just a half size up. Save yourself the time of having to break them in and go a half size up. Or a full size if you like a little more room for socks (I wear mine without socks)I still love the shoes and would recommend them to any active/outdoor individual.

light shoe, responsive sole.
Finally, I've found a "normal" shoe that is as secure and comfortable on my feet as the Vibram Five Fingers. The heel has slightly more lift/padding than the Bikilas I normally wear, which feels a bit odd, but doesn't seem to sacrifice any flexibility to do it. The shoes run a bit small; I ended up with an 8.5 when I normally wear 8s (or 39s in the Vibrams). The sole tread seems more stable on wet/slippery surfaces than the tread pattern on the vibram shoes, and these shoes do not chafe if you manage to get caught in a deluge; the downside is that these shoes take days to dry out if they get soaked. (so, great *in* rain, but long recovery.) No pressure on my achilles, and no real break-in required. I probably should have bought these when they came out, because these blue/black ones are EOL, and v2 is now out in some truly loud colors. (and while v2 is lighter, I hear it is also wider, which is not good for me.) In the mean time I'll buy a couple of these up on clearance sales.

I hate shoelaces!
I don't know what I have against shoelaces -- maybe it's because they usually come untied? I dunno. In any case, when I saw the black/pink/yellow variety of this shoe that was laceless, I knew these were the new shoes for me! I've been running in Merrell pace gloves and I love them, but the gravel on our bases and compounds in Afghanistan does a number on shoes and I knew it was time for a new pair. These are super comfortable and fit perfectly! I usually wear a 6.5 in street shoes but I always order 7s in running shoes to give my feet space to swell and for my toes to have enough room, and the 7 fit as expected. I've only run in them a few times, but so far so good!Edited to add: it's now 1 December here, I am now an official NB addict, I love running in these shoes! I've put some decent mileage on them and they are so comfortable. I had this mental block against running longer periods of time (i.e., greater than 25 minutes), but I'm running 30+ minutes at a time now (which is great for me), and loving these shoes while doing it because I don't even know they're there. There was a little break-in time with the back of the heel vs. my skin, but that didn't last long. These are now my go-to shoes.Edited again to add: it's now almost March, and I think these shoes may survive Afghanistan! I am now running more than 13 miles a week, and I don't want to run in anything else. I even put these through our industrial washing machine on our compound, and they came out looking great! But I went ahead and ordered another pair to await me at home in the States for when I get home next month. These things have held up in snow, mud, our dirty gym, and have even survived being splashed with the JP8 (diesel fuel) we have to use to heat our showers and latrines. Best shoes ever!

Great Product - Poor Customer Service (by seller)
As someone who is a huge fan of VFF's, but wanted something that could be used for running in the winter, I decided to give these a try. I ordered the shoes, they showed up, and all seemed well. After several days of wearing these shoes, I started having massive pain in my left foot. After inspection I noticed that the shoes had a manufacture defect. I contacted the seller of the shoes (MetroShoe Warehouse), providing pictures of the difference in each shoe and asked for an exchange. They responded saying they couldn't exchange them because they no longer had the color combo in the style I ordered. After a few emails and my willing to take the shoe in a different color or style they refused to work with me only offering a refund, which I didn't want. I needed these shoes for winter running.I decided to contact New Balance directly and they not only replaced my shoes without question, they allowed me to make a few changes. The customer service I've received from New Balance is exactly what customer service should be today. I was on the fence about contacting them, because technically this is something the seller should have taken care of, but I'm so glad I did. Kudos to New Balance on your customer service!!

Minimalist running shoes
bought as a bit of an impulse but very glad I did.Very lightweight but surprisingly sturdy and comfortable for walking, indoor circuits and running.Only wish I'd bought a half size bigger as they are a snug fit.

Great shoes for classes
I was recommended these trainers overseas and found them for a great price on amazon. I use them for Body Pump and a bit of gym cardio and they are the best trainers I've ever had, incredibly light and fantastic grip on the floor for lunges etc. I went up one whole size and they fit perfect.

good looking and fitting
These are my 1st pair of trail shoes and first impressions are good. Nice looking shoes with a wide toe box which suits my feet. Still building up the mileage as I am not used to a more minimal shoe but they look well built so I hope they last the test of time.

Using it for gym everyday
Reading all the reviews i purchased one size bigger then my usual shoe size and yes that's the way it should be,. They are very light in wgt and good looking. Not extra unwanted heel for daily gym activity, i don't run so don't know how they will be for running!!They will ware off faster then other shoes coz they are bit delicate in stitching and i can see signs of wearing in 2months use only, but i can buy this again.

Very Comfy. Come up a little Small
I am new to barefoot trainers trying to get back to basics with some very dodgy knees. I find them very comfy generally to walk and occasionally run in. They are versatile being perfect for the gym floor and spinning class as well. I don't feel 100% secure (footing wise) in them, but I think that is just me needing to get used to the increased feedback and flexible sole. They would be 5 stars except I think they measure up a little small - I am normally a very comfortable UK 8 (sometimes a 7.5)with socks, but I find that my toes touch the end of these which can become a little irritating without socks. Have not put my feet back in my regular trainers since using them and I am experiencing a lot less exercise pain in my knees so I'm definitely converted to this style of footwear.
