Great product, well engineered and manufactured!
I bought this product to replaced a small (and very loud) vent-fan in the downstairs bathroom of a two-story house (i.e. no access from above). This product is remarkably well engineered and manufactured, which made the installation go very smoothly. The unit is designed for a 6-inch or 4-inch vent line, but mine was a 3-inch line so I did need to purchase a reducer (4-inch to 3-inch). I couldn't find the reducer (some people call it a transition piece) at Lowes or Home Depot, so I had to go to a sheet-metal supplier,... ended up costing ~$10.Installation is a bit more involved when you do not have access from above the ceiling, but still relatively straight-forward. I disassembled and removed the old noisy vent fan after disconnecting the vent line and the electrical. I had to cut a slightly larger hole with a drywall saw. This was super easy since the new fan comes with a handy cardboard template. Next I disassembled the new vent fan by removing the fan assembly from the housing (1 electrical connector, and 3 screws,... really easy), and by removing the 'vent-tube/electrical panel' from the housing (a single screw and it slides off). I lifted the 'vent-tube/electrical panel' into the newly cut opening in the drywall, and connected the electrical and the vent-line. Next, I lifted the housing into place, ensuring that is mated properly with the 'vent-tube/electrical panel' and secured it with the single screw (super easy). I then secure the housing to the ceiling using a couple of drywall screws to secure it from below. Finally, I inserted the fan assembly (3 screws, and an electrical connector), and installed the cover. Piece of cake.I turned it on and it was so quiet! (At first I thought I must have tripped the breaker or mis-connected it somehow, then I realized it was working great). I'm really really happy with this product and I highly recommend it.

Quiet and works!
This fan perfectly illustrates the difference between a $30.00 fan and a more expensive, quality fan. The one this replaced was also rated for 50CFM, but I found out when removing it that it could only connect to a 3" duct. It was LOUD and barely moved any air. I installed this one and connected it to a 6" flexible insulated duct and it works beautifully to ventilate the bathroom. It is so quiet that I have walked past it and left the house not realizing I had left it on. Well worth it!

Great fan for a powder room
I remodeled a small powder room and replaced the rattle-y "builder" fan with this 50 CFM unit. It is SUPER quiet, and it moves quite a bit of air, plenty for the powder room. You can barely hear it at all.I had recently replaced a fan in another bathroom with a NuTone Ultra Silent 110 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan with Light and Nightlight from Home Depot. It advertises 1 sones. Compared to the builder fans it is quiet, but compared to the Panasonic, it is loud. The 0.3 sones rating for the Panasonic is real, it is amazingly quiet. I am sold on Panasonic fans.

Careful: description wrong!
This is a very good exhaust fan. It moves the air & is v quiet about it. But it is not as described, w/ motion sensor & auto-off. I would return it but am unwilling to pay for removal & re-install.

Wonderfully quiet, but a challenge to install
Wonderfully quiet, but a challenge to install. I knew that going in, because I had previously installed a Panasonic WhisperCeiling in another bathroom. The previous installation had been accessible from the attic, but this one was in a downstairs bathroom, so it was only possible to do the install from below. The fan was to replace an original builder installed, smaller, noisy fan. It needed to go between joists at 16" centers, but because of the access problem, using the supplied metal bracket was not an option. Instead, I built a wood frame with 2x4's that I was able to pre-install. The job took 3 days, but it was worth it for the quietness.

Great Bathroom Fan
This fan does the job very well and is ridiculously quiet. When I first had it hooked up, I assumed I had done something wrong because it didn't make a noise. I know it's advertised as quiet, but those claims are usually exaggerated. It's really that quiet. It was also really great buying this product on Amazon. It was significantly cheaper then this same model at our local Kitchen and Bath store. With the Amazon pricing, this model was only slightly more expensive then the units at the big box store and the quality is much superior. I would defintely reccomend people paying $10 more for this fan from Amazon the "generic" ones from the large hardware store, you won't regret it.

Quiet & Works Well In a Small Area
This fan was chosen for a 3'x5' toilet closet off the main section of the bathroom, which in turn is adjacent to a bedroom having some open sections between them. Therefore, I required the fan to be extremely quiet for those necessary trips, so as to not disturb a sleeping person. The old fan, original to this 20-year-old home, was so loud & inefficient, that it wasn't often operated. Therefore, I'm delighted that the new fan is super quiet & efficient, allowing for compliance to operate it, even in the middle of the night. In addition, because the old fan in the laundry hall was the same vintage as the one in the toilet closet, it too joined it's noisy friends...to the recycle yard. The WhisperLite model also works well as its replacement; the difference is like night & day!

Quietest fan ever
We had heard that Panasonic makes the quietest fans available. Being that this was going in our master bath we wanted it to be very quiet. It is so quiet that if we didn't have it connected with the light switch we would more than likely forget to turn it off. You can barely hear it. It also works extremely well at removing moisture from the bathroom. When we remodeled the bath we had installed insulation in the outside walls before installing the shower. This made the room warmer yet too humid. We couldn't leave our towels hanging on the towel bars as it was too moist for them to dry so we installed the fan hoping it would solve this issue. This fan did the trick and does it extremely well. We highly recommend this fan.

Excellent fans
I was introduced to these Panasonic exhaust fans about 8 or 9 years ago and I've used nothing but since then. They work well, last long and are quiet. Just like anything else, some simple, regular cleaning prolongs their life span.

and very pleased with how quiet it is
Had it in for about a year now, and very pleased with how quiet it is.You can buy the quietest one the big box store sells, but it won't hold a candle to this one.
