They're not black
Herewith is an edited copy of my review for Dia-Compe Rear Concave Washer (Bag-10) The only difference is that these are Front Concave Washer (Bag-10).So, I bought these because I needed some, and I thought they were black, which I've never seen before. I mean, the description didn't say they were black, but hey! Look at the picture. And I have a couple of bikes where I thought to myself, "oh cool, black would look really good on those, and I'll take the regular ones off and use them on another project." Also, I think my LBS is getting kind of tired of seeing me come in there and asking if they have obscure parts that they don't even know how much to charge me for, because nobody ever goes in there asking for random small parts for 30 year old road bikes, from which they can't make any money, even if they mark it up like 1000%.So here I am trolling amazon, and I find what appear to be BLACK CONCAVE WASHERS! EUREKA!!!!! But they aren't black, they're just, you know, the regular dull aluminum color. They are, however, concave brake washers and they do what they're supposed to. They're also pretty inexpensive I guess. Well, 65¢ for a washer is maybe a little pricey, but it's a concave washer! You could spend half a day dremeling 10 fat flat washers into a concave ones, but that would come out to, like 16¢ per hour (If I were paying you by the hour) and a couple dozen dremmel drums, plus probably some sanded off finger skin, (and face it, as good as your dremel skillz are, you'd never EVER get it EXACTLY right - there probably isn't a dremel drum that's the right diameter anyway, so you'd have to make that too. Probably you'd have to cut up an old bike frame, and then use those parts that these things fit around for you drum, and coat it with a micron of diamond dust. That might still be too big. I'll leave it for you to decide, because I'm not a machinist. Anyway, so I guess these are worth the price. If anyone asks you to make some for them, just say "Ok" and then just order these, because that was probably a dumb idea I had before. They'll never know as long as you remember to tell them "I can't make you black ones! These will be the regular aluminum color, OK?" - but they will be impressed with your mad dremel skilz. Maybe Grainger or McMaster Carr have them. You could check that out, but I didn't bother. If they do have some, let me know. But only if they have black ones.If you're thinking about buying these because they're black, DON'T DO IT!!! If you just need some concave washers, and you don't care about being the coolest kid on the block because you have black concave washers, then by all means, order these. No one will think "man, that dude sure is a tool with those grey concave washers ruining that otherwise sweet ride." Really. Trust me on that one. You probably ride a fixie anyway, so you don't even have brakes. Why are you reading this?I guess I could spray-paint them black. But I probably won't. Maybe some other color.4.9 stars. -0.1 for the boring color, which isn't black.Check that. I'm definitely not going to paint them. Too lazy.Guess I should mention, I'm putting these on 80s road bikes, which they fit just fine. Except esthetically. But in the interest of "period correctness", and "making my bike stop when I want it to", I guess they'll do. Come to think of it, by the time I took the original ones off, they were black with street grime anyway. These are, as the name implies, concave washers. And to be fair, no one ever said they were black. Maybe the picture is of some well used street grime covered ones. You know, to show that they have what it takes. Rest assured, the ones you will receive will be nice clean brand spanking new aluminum. They will not be black.Meh

It does the job, not anything like what's pictured
Since it was very unclear of what I was getting, I wanted to post a comment and photo. These will work, but they're thinner than I expected. the alloy is nice and light. Attaching is a picture of what arrived so you know what to expect. The photo was taken on standard-rule paper so you can gauge size. They'll do what I need them to do, but if you're looking for one of the nice thick square-body alloy ones like some old pre-80s Mafac and Weinmann front calipers arrived with for mounting hardware, you're not going to find it with these. 3 stars for being "good enough", even with the crappy incorrect picture. Package indicates "MADE IN TAIWAN" if country of origin is important to you.

Perfect function but not black colored.
The washers I got were not black. But they worked great on my 1" ST fork, although they look like they are chrome-plated or something. 5 stars for function but 4 starts because somebody out there probably cares what color their brake washers are, just not me.
