I like the zafu itself! But it's not the color indicated in the preview. I bought the "floral" zafu, which looked like a black zafu with a dark blue peony pattern on the top. In reality it's an all-over red and natural/beige pattern with some blue details. I don't mind it enough to return it, but it's definitely not what I expected. As other reviewers indicated, the fabric is sturdy (although it smells a little plasticy, so I'm assuming it just needs to air out a bit) and it's chock-full of buckwheat hulls! I agree with other reviewers about taking a few scoops out and saving them to top the pillow off at a later date, as the zafu settles. The seller shipped it in a plastic bag in case it leaked but it didn't, the zipper under the handle is definitely sturdy enough to prevent spills.

I've been using this cushion for meditation for about a week now, with no problems or complaints whatsoever. Switched to this one from a much smaller cushion that I used for about the first 3 years of my practice, and I reeeeally wish I had switched sooner :) Being 49 years old, I get some aches and pains from a 30-minute session, and it seems much easier so far on the larger cushion. Very nice, rugged, quality product that I hope to be using for years to come.FYI they *did* ship me the right color :)

I was a bit leery about spending $40 on a cushion, but I needed one for my practice and I was tired of balling up pillows and blankets. I got my cushion earlier than expected (bonus) and it is very well made.Its woven cotton, which reminds me a bit of a canvas tote, but soft. There is a lot of buckwheat packed in there so I am sure I will need to take some out like other reviewers did and store it for when it breaks down later (just freeze it). There isn't an inner pocket storing the buckwheat, when you unzip it under the handle - BAM there it is so look out.It will collect a bit of dust and dog hair because of the material, if you don't have a wildly shedding dog this shouldn't be an issue though.This is very comfy to sit on. and makes you feel stable as well, It reminds me a bit of a stiff bean bag chair, but much smaller, better made, easier to get off from, and heavier. If you still need some support for your lower back, just prop it next to a wall, you will be fine.If you are looking for a good cushion for your yoga practice and for meditation, you cannot go wrong with this. I would spend the money again.

Love the Hugger Mugger brand. I purchased 2 of these for my friend, who is pregnant, so that she can do someRestorative yoga to help with her pregnancy. She loves the pillows and I love this brand.

I am a 59 year old who has aches and pains from a sedentary job. This cushion is awesome for sitting on the floor after stretching sessions or to set on a chair to be raised up during puzzeling. I also use it to sit and think about the day ahead and to meditate. I bought a cheaper version and the buckwheat filling smooshed. Hugger Mugger is worth the extra money! So far it keeps its shape and I couldn’t be more satisfied.

This is the best meditation cushion that I have sat on yet. It's comfortable, well made, and I have better posture sitting on this cushion. On other cushions, I always felt like I wasn't centered, and never felt like my sit bones were in the right position. This cushion has a zipper under the cloth handle so you can remove some of the buckwheat filler if needed to be less firm. I took a chance on this cushion based on the other excellent reviews, and I am so glad that I did. The sturdy cloth handle blends into the shape on the side and makes it very easy to carry along to a class. The workmanship is excellent, and it looks like it will last a long time. I sat on my plum zafu immediately after it arrived and meditated. Great price. I highly recommend it, and have to my friends.

Real big shame. Really liked the pillow until I noticed bugs in it after about a week. They're some kind of small aphid. The pillow was used exclusively on a ship where I've never seen so much as a fly in 2 years.

Purchased the Hugger Mugger Zafu from Amazon. Received it securely packaged in an acceptable amount of time. The Zafu is very well made and I find the plum color to be nicer than I thought it would be. I used it for the first time last night in my meditation practice and found it to be very comfortable and I was able to sit for a lot longer than usual w/o having to move or adjust my position. Another plus is that the zipper that gives you access to the buckwheat hulls is behind the carrying strap. That keeps it hidden and also protected. Well thought out design. Very nice and highly recommended.
