Beautiful piece with great design
This a beautiful and functional piece of furniture that offers modern design with a variety of features that make component installation and cable management a breeze. What isn't evident in the pictures is the amount of thought given to ventilating heat not only through the front, but from the top and back as well. The top surface is frosted glass that rests on rubber pads above the wooden top of the console that has ventilation slots to allow heat to escape. The surface has a nice smooth texture that is non-reflective and doesn't show fingerprints. The wood surfaces are well finished and consistently stained.I chose to take the delivery and install myself, which turned out to be a mixed bag. Installation is limited to the bottom legs/support, placing the glass top surface, and adjustment of the doors to align the slats (if necessary). After delivery and unpacking, I found that my unit apparently shipped without the hardware necessary to put the legs together and attach them to the unit. A couple of phone calls with the shipper had the replacement hardware on its way in the mail directly from BDI. Installation of the legs is relatively straightforward and all of the various bolt holes lined up as expected. I flipped the unit on its back to complete the leg installation then righted the unit on the legs with the the assistance of a helper. Once upright, it was simply a matter of placing the pads for the glass top and gently laying the large glass plate down and it was ready for install. One item of note that I wasn't aware of when I ordered, was that the legs have leveling pads and wheels. The wheels were very helpful to roll the unit back up against the wall during iterations of wiring layout, though they can be removed. Another great feature of the unit is cable management. There are pre-drilled holes in the bottom to route external speakers, velcro cable holds on the upper back of the unit, and additional velcro cable wraps which made cable management simple and clean. For those who employ center channel speakers for surround sound, the unit was able to accommodate my Definitive Tech center channel in the slot above the drawer (in the middle) so there was no need to place it elsewhere.All-in-all, I'm extremely pleased with the unit. There are certainly less expensive options available elsewhere but as is typically the case, you get what you pay for. If you like your audio/video/gaming gear but want to have it packaged in a way that will look great in a living or family room, I highly recommend it.The customer service from the shipper and BDI were first rate.

Worth the price
This piece is really well made and has thought of every detail in the construction. Has wheels on the bottom that are removable/concealed for ease of access. Back panel is sliding and has many different access points for cords. The interior has a recessed shelf for the soundbar to be hidden within the console. The piece is about 200 lbs so it is very sturdy and yet has the louvered front door panels that give a lightness to the console and the black glass top is very elegant. I LOVE IT. The only downside is that it came damaged and I had to get it replaced but the company was very receptive and had it replaced within a few weeks.

Excellent
This thing is quality. The wood throughout it solid and not veneered particle board. Much of the frame is metal and welded so very little need for screwing pieces together that will later loosen. This is an area a cheaper furniture company would not do as it creates massive shipping costs. Where you are crewing into a wood part the manufacturer has installed heavy duty metal anchors. The doors soft close and just everything is well thought out. The one thing I wish they would have used was one sliding shelf to put a record player on.

Nicely Built Media Center
TL;DR: This is a nice and well-built piece of furniture that I expect will last a long time. It looks exactly as it appears in the photos. No major problems. Before I continue I would like to make note of the leg height, which is much greater than I expected. This is not the unit's fault, but surprised me and I'm hoping that by pointing it out someone else might be saved from making an error. When I was buying this I was going back and forth between the quad unit and this one. Turns out there are TWO quad units, one with lower legs -- which is the look I wanted -- and one with higher legs. The triple-wide version is only available with higher legs, and I didn't notice that. So moral of the story, watch the details if you're trying to decide between the two.On to the actual experience of receiving and working with the unit.Delivery was not great. One older, fairly thin driver showed up, and the box is very large and extremely heavy. He was having trouble just getting it off of the truck, let alone up the stairs and into my home. Eventually, with lots of heaving and work, we managed to get the thing up the stairs. Good times were had by all and I was worried that the delivery guy would have a heart attack but luckily that did not occur.I didn't buy the assembly so the rest was up to me. I opened the box, paying heed to the "this side up" printed on the side, and started pulling out various bits of styrofoam. Nothing made sense, and I found myself looking at the bottom of the unit and unsure of what I was supposed to do or where the parts were. After more heaving -- required to flip the box -- I discovered that they'd put it in upside down. So here's a pro tip: If you open the box and find another box with the glass top inside, that is the correct up side. Otherwise, flip the thing over and continue. It's tricky to work upside down, because most of the parts are inside of the sliding drawer, and you can't get them out from the bottom. The actual assembly wasn't too difficult. Screw on the legs, flip the thing upright, screw on the handles. Finally, put some rubber pieces on the top and place the glass. This last part is a two person job. That glass is large and heavy.Other than the printing issue the packaging was pretty good and the furniture arrived relatively unscathed. There are a couple of marks on the wood that I'm not super happy about but they're not quite serious enough to warrant a return. My Sonos soundbar fits nicely on the top shelf above the drawer, and there's plenty of room in the rest of the unit for a DVR, gaming system, a few miscellaneous controllers and switches, about 40 games, and other stuff. The back of the unit is nicely designed with velcro loops and various holes for cable management, so once everything is in place you really can't see any cables. Very clean look, which is exactly why I bought this. From a usability perspective one of the draws of this unit was that my equipment would work right through the slats. I can't say that that's absolutely true. My TiVo, for example, is a bit less responsive than it used to be and sometimes I need to re-point the controller a bit to get it to change channels. Kind of annoying. All in all not a bad piece. It looks really nice, hides the equipment, and mostly does what it's supposed to do.

Great quality cabinet
I replaced an oversized, heavy cabinet with this sleek cabinet. It’s up off the floor on a metal base with wheels making it a snap to connect components.
