Worked great casting for bait off our dock
Make sure you're throwing it in sand or grassy areas, this can't take shell beds! It does like to cling to them though12-22-19 updateI've used the bait net all year fishing from my kayak, and throwing it from docks, boats, etc . . and it's held up very well with only a couple of holes from shell beds which I fixed. I've used it almost every time I've fished and I keep it in the tub on the back of my kayak. It's been all over Florida this year.I drilled a bunch of holes in the bottom of the tub so it can drain, and when I fish salt water I rinse it with a hose in the tub, let it drain then I spread it on the driveway to dry. I'm also going to add some foam to the sides of the tub in case it gets dumped from the kayak

Good cast net.
Some of my mono line pop lifting a heavy load of anchovies. But I’m gonna have to tie a line to line knot with some electrical tape to repair it or crimp with electrical tape. Net still functions I guess with heavy load anything is bound to break. I’m probably not going to use another 12 foot net and switch to the 10 foot. Because the amount of bait you catch with it is bound to damage your net. Literally took me and my buddy to hoist the net up. There were probably 40-50lbs of anchovies in the net. So for me 5/5 is fair enough given that I probably caught over $250 worth of bait and the net still functions.

Works good.
The media could not be loaded. Casting net works well.Th weights on tue net is actually cool. Its like heavy plastic.I caught multiple fish in a single cast. Good for bait fish. The bucket can be useful. I put there the fish that i caught.Price of the net is reasonable. Good quality net.

I am now satisfied
i submitted a review before trying net cause i was mad that i received the wrong size net. Im still mad about that but after watching several videos on different techniques of throwing 8 ft radius nets and then practicing for couple hours I am very satisfied with the net quality. I filled 5 5gal buckets full of golden shiners with 4 throws. I would not have been able to get half that many with 10 throws using my 4ft. The 1/4 inch mesh helps tremendously i only lost about a dozen smaller minnows that got caught in the mesh all the other just slid out of net right into the buckets. If you are looking for a 1/4 inch mesh 8ft radius net buy this one. even though the specs say 4ft radius it is a full 8ft.

Holy cast net
Net rotted after purchase in June 2021. Great holes showed up when I got it out of the box to practice for the spring fishing in march 2025. Just a slight pull and new holes came . Don’t buy if you want something that lasts more than 3 years.

Average Quality, Average Throw
I was excited to get a bigger net. I like the size. I like the weight. I like the quickness that it sinks. Its a good net. However, after using it for one day in quite smooth sand, it developed a rip near the weights. This is light use in ideal conditions. I just expected it to be sturdier. I think it will work ok, but I don't expect it to last long.

do not throw this net near structure like rocks, timber
I use heavy 1.5 lb. per foot nets for getting deep open water baits in over +20 depths when the bait runs deep due to water conditions, but thisnet is not for that purpose, the material needs to be soaked first in fabric softner and water in 5 gallon bucket for over one day, rinse it off andit supple. This net is for shallow water bait near the surface, do not throw this net near structure like rocks, timber, stained water whichyou cannot see obstructions. This net is perfect for practicing since it is not heavy and the weights are not lead, which makes it faster to "load"when baits close to you and fast moving. Most people will not spend over $50 on a cast net and these people end up not being successfulmost of the time when they go fishing, plus if they are not willing to spend that type of money on a cast net then they will not put in the same effortto keep the bait alive. My advice about fishermen, the guy who has the "Wow" cast net usually is the one you would want to go fishing with.
