Great light. Almost perfect...
Fenix PD35 is awesome. Less expensive than a Surefire or Streamlight and with more Lumens. Okay, not made in America, but neither are 90% of our daily purchases. (It's called a world economy.)Great illumination and throw (distance the light travels which allows you to discern what you're seeing at night). It has five illumination settings but I really only use three- lowest, second highest and highest (burst- 850 Lumens). Strobe function is great as well.My one knock against the light (which is why it gets 4 stars) is I'd like the strobe function to activate via the tail cap push button. That would make it a truly tactical light. As it is, you have to activate the strobe with the side button. Not bad if you're carrying this in your hand, but not good if you have this mounted on a rifle and you need to move your offhand from the rifle to find the side button to activate the strobe. Something to consider. If you want to mount it to a rifle there is something else to consider. The main body of the light (where the pocket clip is located) is less than one inch in diameter. The tail cap is one inch in diameter. I have a one inch scope ring mounted to the tail cap and that sits on an offset 45 degree mount on my 12 oclock rail (all purchased on Amazon). Least expensive setup and works well. Easy to switch the light from rifle to hand carry whenever necessary. This is a great EDC (Every Day Carry) light. Very bright, well made, functions flawlessly and is small enough to put in your back pocket and have whenever you need it. I keep this one and the smaller brother (Fenix PD32) in my patrol car and on my nightstand every day.

Very bright light, still going strong after mroe than 3 years!
Wow, is this thing bright! The flashlight gets 5 stars. The charger failed early and the two Ultrafire batteries that were included do not deliver near their rated capacity. Plan on upgrading to a better charger and get some real batteries and you will be very satisfied with the flashlight!I like the separate switches for "on" and "brightness level" and appreciate the tail cap switch having the ability to turn on the light without clicking the switch to full on. I have a bunch of other flashlights and this is the one I like the best.

Great light, good package. Not a real thrower, but amazing for EDC
I reviewed the PD32 UE before, so this review will be similar in format. These two lights are very similar, and they are both near-perfect EDC/self-defense flashlights. The major difference here is the included batteries and charger with this light. I will say that they work just fine, and it's still a heck of a lot better than having to use the CR123A cells. Longer runtime and rechargeable with the 18650s, there's no reason to use CR123A batteries with this light unless you have to for some reason. However, there are better 18650 cells and chargers out there, but for the value these are fine because they work. On the PD35:Pros:-Awesome light output for size-Good battery life (considering output)-Tough but lightweight construction-Strobe accessible from any brightness setting-Strobes at the full 850 lumens (PD32 UE only strobes at 400)-Can be mounted on weapons with an attachment-Looks like a miniature lightsaber-Momentary or locking switch-Sturdy pocket/belt clipCons:-Doesn't remember strobe setting (i.e. can't activate immediately)-Does not come with the diffuser tip like the PD32 UE did-No S.O.S. mode like the PD32 UE-Wide beam angle doesn't throw too far-Can't tailstand-Gets hot quick on the highest setting-Lowest setting sometimes isn't low enoughComparing the beam to the PD32 UE, I noticed this one is slightly narrower and slightly cooler in color. I prefer the slightly narrower beam, because it throws a little farther, but I actually liked the warmer color of the PD32 UE a little better. This is mostly preference as the PD35 still has very good CRI (more like one of those 'daylight' CFL bulbs that just look a little too blue at night, but still renders colors very well). The brightness increase is barely noticeable except on the strobe setting. This light hurts to look at even on the lowest setting, so be careful when shining it at people. The strobe is especially disorienting, so please be sensitive to those around you. Overall a killer flashlight, and you won't find a better deal for the price!

Brightest Flashlight
I bought this flashlight thinking that it would be just like all the others but I was wrong.I have a collection of Dorcy flashlights including the 600 lumen model.I put the Fenix PD35 with my 600 lumen Dorcy side by side and compared them the Fenix PD35 was much brighter.I like that it has the side switch that can change to 5 different brightness settings plus strobe mode, just hold the side button for a second or two then strobe mode kicks in.To shut off strobe mode you press the button one time then it is off.The first setting is 10 lumens the second setting is 45 lumens the third setting is 170 lumens the fourth setting is 450 lumens and the fifth setting is 850 lumens.I found out that to get the best performance from this light is to buy the Fenix L2S with 3400mah it is a little pricey but worth the money around $19.95.I bought the Ultrafire 4000mah brand one of each one black and one red and tried them out in the flashlight and the black one lasted about 48 minutes on the brightest setting and the red one about 40 minutes. The Fenix brand lasts longer at about 68 minutes.Don't forget that the Fenix PD35 will automatically adjust down to the next lower setting to save on battery power,it also helps to cool the flashlight down a little bit.It does put out some heat at the highest setting nothing to be alarmed by won't burn you.If it ever came down to me needing another one I would not hesitate to buy it.I would recommend this flashlight to anybody. The best flashlight I have ever bought.
