Very good substitute!
This toona is not exactly like eating fish tuna, however if your goal is either vegetarian or helping save the planet it’s a great substitute.Mix with your favorite sauce and have on a salad or as a sandwich. It’s filling and tasty.

Disappointed with their new recipe
I'm not one to write reviews, but this deemed necessary.Sophie's Toona used to be my absolute favorite plant-based meat. I ate it all the time! Both flavors were badass. They stopped selling it at Fresh Thyme so I wanted to order it online.Could not believe what I was eating. It tasted like dog food. It was a bad kind of spongey and had a mucus-like consistency. So disappointed and sad that I lost something special and delicious in my journey being a vegetarian. I hope their company sees this review because this is nowhere near an 'improved recipe.'

Flavor
Dislike was the price more expensive than actual tuna fish. Flavor was good especially when I mixed with mayo, dill relish and placed on toasted gluten bread. Just like having a tuna fish sandwich. the only draw back is gas. Leaving me to only eat on Friday, Saturday night. I've not tried mixing with pasta but that another meal. I would definitely buy more of the toona. Next though will try another flavor. I had the black pepper.

Definitely does not have the taste or texture of tuna.
I would give this product 3.5 stars. I purchased the 6-pack of the sea salt flavor. I used 1/2 a can to make a vegan tuna melt. I mixed the product with vegan mayo. The taste wasn't too bad, but I was really hungry. The next day, I used the remainder to make another tuna melt. I just couldn't bring myself to eat it this taste. I wasn't in the mood for the flavor, I guess. I also tasted it right out of the can...definitely not edible plain. I still have 5 more cans left, which I guess I will mix in with other recipes. It isn't edible on its own, though. I had higher expectations for this product, since I use the frozen seafood offerings by Sophie's Kitchen and enjoy the taste of them.

Good
This is a really good substitution if you are vegan/vegetarian. I do not eat meat nor seafood so this was perfect when I’m craving tuna salad.

Needs more flavor
Taste is fairly bland, needs more Seaweed, Nori or Dulce to give it more of a 'Seafood' flavor! The consistency is more like soaked TVP than 'Tuna', when I opened the first can I did a double take, it looked so much like cat food that I grabbed the can to read it, wondering if I had accidentally ordered the wrong thing. All in all, after adding a LOT of Dulce flakes for more 'Ocean Flavor and other spices, some vegan Mayo, Celery, etc. it passed as a Sandwich topping. For the price it was a disappointment!

So much better than the first version
I just made a Toona melt sandwich and was pretty happy at how it came out. This new version is no longer oily or smelly. The texture has improved as well. The protein flavor is pretty neutral and I just mixed in mayo, onion, celery and a touch of tabasco. I think that it would taste really good mixed with BBQ sauce as well.

Sophie's Sea Salt Tuna
I am sure you were doing your best and all that you had was black pepper so you gave me four of those and 2 sea salt. I don't like black pepper I have tried to like it. I don't want to give you a bad rating. You probably didn't have enough sea salt. I am very sad but I do believe you were trying.
