Amazon basics does it again
A fraction of the price of similar cables, this was solidly built, with very solid connectors. Worked perfectly to connect an older monitor with dvi to my laptop with hdmi out. No loss of image quality. If you have a slightly older monitor without an hdmi in, this is for you! I attached a picture of the female side your monitor will needs (it’s the universally brown one, NOT the blue one!)

Perfect fix for me!
First of all I really want to thank the community for answering my questions about this cord before I purchased it! It was really helpful to me! Okay so this cord is exactly what I needed to connect my desktop tower to my Sony smart tv. I plugged the DVI end into my computer and plugged the HDMI into the port on the TV and it worked perfect. The reason I needed this cord was because my computer doesn't have HDMI and the TV only has HDMI. I have been trying out different VGA converter cords before trying the DVi, and none of them had worked at all. So I am very happy that this one finally worked! My computer runs windows 10, which I think is why the VGA cord wasn't working. Perhaps something to do with a driver or something? Now the only thing is that this cord will NOT transfer sound. This is a video cable only. You will have to use either a aux cord directly to your tv or to an external speaker. But this cord does exactly as I was told by the community members as well as the description by the seller. If you have found my review helpful, especially if you are in the same situation, please let me know.

Good quality cable at a very cheap price.
Exactly what I needed to add a 3rd display to my son's gaming PC. The graphics card on the PC has HDMI, VGA, and DVI outputs. I used this cable to connect my LG HDTV for use as an overhead display.

It seems like there may be a error in the hdmi/dvi communication ...
Out of all the combinations of 3 different computers and 5 different monitors, this cable only worked 1 and a half times and never at the correct resolution. The first time I managed to get it to work was with a computer that didn't have graphics drivers on it, and it stopped working as soon as I installed video drivers onto the computer. Another ten combinations later and I finally get it to work with the DVI side plugged into a monitor with corrupted firmware on it and the hdmi side plugged into my graphics card (same set up did not work on the computer without a gpu) and it finally detected a signal, but only for a really low resolution. It seems like there may be a error in the hdmi/dvi communication protocols that prevents the monitors from detecting a signal or the computer from detecting a monitor in most cases. Based on my experience, I would not recommend anyone buy this product, because even if you get really lucky and get a picture, chances are it won't be an acceptable resolution.

Use your DVI-D PC with HDMI monitor/TV
First off - the scenario: I have a PC with dual DVI-D outputs that I needed to connect to HP E222 monitors, neither of which have DVI-D interfaces. The active DVI to DP option is quite expensive and the VGA option has a little distortion that is barely noticeable but can be a bit bothersome. This cable takes the DVI-D output and converts it to a HDMI signal so you can use any monitor with HDMI input. Note that audio isn't supported, which won't matter on most monitors. These work well for my needs. I'd like to try them in reverse and hook up something like a Raspberry PI to an old LCD monitor to see how/if it works.

Remove that VGA-to-VGA cable, and use this for your computer's HDMI port and connect your DVI-capable monitor.
I have four Acer 22-inch monitors, and the 16:10 aspect ratio (1680x1050 res) never did work well with the VGA ports on any video card I've used. The monitors automatically and correctly pick native resolution whenever data runs through the monitor's DVI port, whether from DVI output from the computer, or via an HDMI-to-DVI or DisplayPort-to-DVI cable.Besides the OEM video card on my home computer (which supports DVI, HDMI and VGA outputs), I installed a Radeon HD5450 PCIe1x which I also purchased from Amazon (DVI, DisplayPort and VGA outputs). Great card, by the way. This cable was the answer for my monitor on the far left, now fed by the resident card and its HDMI ouput. I removed the VGA-to-VGA cable, installed this HDMI-to-DVI cable, and back to native resolution and proper color table selection. The Hong Kong skyline stretching from left to right on my four monitors now looks great!

Compatible both directions? Not so sure.
Based on all of the positive reviews I thought it would be a fine product. For my monitors and Nvidia 960 GTX the cables did not work in both directions. One picture will show the cable going from HDMI out at my video card to monitor DVI input (looks fine) the other picture shows what it looks like going from DVI out at my video card to my monitor's HDMI input.Went out and bought a straight DVI to DVI cable and it worked fine.

It is, What it is
Silence the screams of your enemies. This cord shall command the fear and respect you've been yearning for.A firm lash to the face of any who would dare backtalk a noble like yourself, is an efficient and admirable means to maintaining order.Tired of hearing the poor complain about being shunned of healthcare? The working class is once more rambling on about homelessness and artificial scarcity? Or perhaps some avocado-addicted millenial dares to criticize the noble-class in regards to their soul-crushing poverty, dying children, poisoned environment, mathematically-confirmed abusive slave wages, and any other thing that a noble like yourself need only feign-sympathy with a rainbow flag tweet, then double down on punitive tactics... Well, now you can add on an AMAZING bonus torture. Skip the #Together tweet, and bring one of these smashing down on their cowering faces, with every ounce of might in your frail boomer muscles. Aha! "Ah, what a good place the USA is, God Bless Cucker" you think; as your eyes meet Walmart's USA Flag. Holster it, and wait until your eyes find the next millenial, so that you may yell at them to get a job!(with slavery wages) and destroy any hope or collective support that would threaten the slave class whom without, you would perish and have no capital.

works both ways
Normal Amazon Basics quality (top tier that is ) but what i wanted to report is that this will successfully work FROM DVI TO HDMI not just the other way around. Hope this helps

Not the 4k@60Hz stated in the product description
I bought this cable to maximise the display resolution between a PC with a DVI-D Dual link connection and a 4k monitor. The cable's product description states 'The AmazonBasics HDMI to DVI adapter cable meets the latest HDMI standard, which means it considerably expands bandwidth up to 18 Gbps, offers 4K@50/60 (2160p) video resolution (four times more clarity than 1080p/60)'.However the best resolution I can obtain is [email protected] spending quite a bit of time investigating why I couldn't get better I established that the maximum resolution it was possible to get out of a DVI-D connection at 60Hz is 2560×1600. On top of that it seems that if a DVI-D connector is converted to HDMI at the other end then resolution is typically limited to 1080p@60Hz. The only way round this is to use an Active adapter, of which there are very few around. The upshot is that Amazon's item description is incorrect, misleading and the stated performance is impossible to achieve with this product, even if the kit on either end of the cable is capable of it.However, if you just want a good 1080p@60 DVI to HDMI cable this is a decent enough product.

Detailed techical review. This is DVI to HDMI & Vice Versa. Also supports audio via DVI.
This is a review for pro users.I have previously brought amazon basics cable and that is why i went with this one for quality. However my requirement is reverse.I needed a DVI to HDMI instead of what this cable does.Thing is, This is a PASSIVE CABLE, which means there is no circuit involved in conversion of signals.AND IT WORKED AS EXPECTED.It converts "HDMI to DVI" & "DVI to HDMI" too.IT ALSO SUPPORTS AUDIO TOO !!!!I am using it with my Nvidia graphic card to a TV and the DVI output from Nvidia gives audio via DVI and the HDMI plugged into the TV receives both HDMI video & Audio.

Doesn't support 2k let alone 4k (max 1920 x 1080 only)
Bought this to hook a laptop to a monitor that supports 2560 x 1440 via straight HDMI cable but it only shows 1920 x 1080 as max resolution with this cable (HDMI on laptop / DVI on monitor). This is the same use as in the product description (see the laptop image) and sad that it says 4k in description but only FullHD looks to be supported.I share this monitor with another desktop and it has only 1 HDMI port so wanted to use DVI port but this cable does not meet my requirement. I am going to use it for another purpose or maybe return it as it doesn't meet the spec advertised...
