Q: Are these a single or double ear headset? Title says single but the picture shows double.

These are double...they must have used an old description...this has two ear phones. They work great...5 stars. The ear cups are a little larger than some I've seen but it's all good. ~Mark

Q: Is there a setting to turn the noise canceling microphone off and on? Mine is not working, great otherwise.

There's a button on the panel (the microphone with the line drawn though it). If that is not working for you, you may want to check the application you're using. I'm using Windows 10 and mic mute works in Zoom, Teams and Google Meet without a problem.

Q: does this headset have superior microphone noise canceling capability? I work from home and cannot have any background noise during my calls.

"Superior....capability" is subjective. I work from home as well and it works fine for my purposes.
