The Hi-Tor Neo Diet is specifically formulated for cats requiring a low protein, restricted phosphorus diet to assist in management of renal disease. This formula is highly palatable in order to ensure adequate consumption and caloric intake.

Bailey Loves It
My 16 year old blind Persian always has something wrong lol....me and his vet keep "patching" him and I just believe he has a good blood line and great vet care....I got him from of all places a "shelter" 10 years ago for the bargain price of $40. What is sad is that earlier this year I found his breeder in another state and she was outraged that he was put in a shelter. I said but I have him and he is fine! This time when I brought him to the vet he had had a seizure which in my 53 years of owning cats I have never witnessed or experienced. I was scared out of my mind. #1 she said his blood pressure was sky high and #2 his kidney numbers were off. She put him on a BP medication and suggested he eat low protein, low phosphorous foods, which I had tried years ago and all the cats hated them....BUT THIS WET FOOD HE IS NUTS OVER!!! He absolutely loves it from the first time I put it down for him....omg I am so happy that he loves it. I only wish it came in the smaller cans because he can't eat a whole can in a day and I don't like refrigerating it and then warming it up. However, I do recommend it for cats with renal and heart problems. Diet and medication and you and your vet, will help your kitty to live a long and better life.

Cats either likes it or hates it
My cat has chronic kidney disease that makes it very hard for her to maintain weight. The price beats prescription cat food (which I don't recommend). This patte style kidney diet food has the perfect ratios of phosphorus and protein to help keep the kidneys from being over-stressed. With that said, I could only get one of my 4 cats to eat this food and she was not the one with renal failure. After 1 week, she refused to eat. I have read mixed reviews about the palatability of Hi-TOR. The general consensus is that your cat either likes it or hates it.Note: The food itself is rather dark and does not smell like traditional cat food.

Question ingredients
My CRF male cat will eat this food, however, I note that this food is no lower in protein nor phosphorus than any top selling canned food, with phosphorus at .10% and protein at 8.0%, which makes this very expensive. The prescription canned food is much lower in both. I use a non-calcium phosphorus powered binder in his food. I will not do sub-q's as I did with my other cat as I now see this as only prolonging an incidious terminal disease and force additional stress - only to see the end symptoms continue within a few months, likely because of the disease stage. Phosphorus is proven to be a huge factor in CKD. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure some cats can and will live on with this therapy, however mine did not. A 3 rating as he will eat it, but I question the statement of low levels of these ingredients. With CRF the need is to feed whatever they will eat at some point. (Note that I too received dented cans)

Kitty's tummy couldn't tolerate
I bought this food for my cat, Lulu, who is starting to have some kidney issues and needs a low-phosphorus diet. The food arrived in a timely manner. I fed Lulu half a can of it mixed with water. I didn't think the food looked or smelled the most appetizing but Lulu did seem to like it. She ate about a third of the mixture which is her normal process. She walked about fifteen feet and then she started to vomit. My poor kitty retched until nothing came up but a clear fluid. So basically I threw away $24, I have stains on my carpet that may never come out, and I'm still hunting for a food that will agree with Lulu and that I can afford. I donated the food to an animal shelter.

My old Cat likes it
5 stars for the food. My very elderly cat has kidney issues, and has gotten very picky about food. He eats this stuff, tolerates it well, and seems to have perked up a bit. That said, the sellers on Amazon are taking advantage. The reason for all the bent cans is they are cutting a full case of 24 in half, so the cans fall out, and then selling it for almost the full case price. Look elsewhere and you should easily find a full case for about the same price as these Amazon listings. Shame, shame on these sellers.

Great product, improved kidney function without need for prescription
My two cats seem to like this and haven't grown tired of it with over a year of use. They refused to eat the Canin or Science Diet versions of the renal prescription canned food which runs about twice the price of the Hi-Tor. In addition, our elderly Himalayan with renal disease had a significant improvement in her kidney function numbers which surprised and pleased her vet. We mix it with half of a three ounce can of Fancy Feast.
