Black & Decker / Vector Travel Mate 6.0 Amp AC/DC Converter

After I did not receive my converter the first time and it got sent back. These folks called me back for another address they could send it to to make sure I got it, free of charge. Sending it twice cost them a lot more, but it was great customer service and I thank them. Haven't had the converter long but it seems to be working as advertised, can't say the same for the batter saver...

We used this for the first time this past week while on a road trip with our plug in cooler for the car. Since the company (Coleman)we bought the cooler from does not even have the converter available on its web site (even though it is listed in its instruction book as an option), I had to look for an alternative - and this fit the bill and we took the cooler from the car to the hotel room without missing a beat This converter will pay for itself with what we save in purchasing ice, food and beverages while traveling....and can keep medicine cool also. It can also be used for other items that have a car plug for power such as our dockable satellite radio, various chargers, and stuff like that.

I purchased the Vector run a 4-amp max rated thermoelectric cooler, and it worked well for 1 week. The Vector just quit on me. I am disappointed with the product not only for the obvious longevity issue, but the total lack of any serviceable reset or overload protection. My recommendation: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Although a little on the bulky side this travel converter works fine. It does get a little toasty once it has been running for a while but nothing to be concerned about. All-in-all, a decent unit.

This might be a very good unit, however I needed a 8.0 Amp Converter. Perhaps I'll find another use for it.

We bought the electric cooler and use it for camping or long trips in the truck. It takes a while for the cooler to get down to the right temperature, so we use this power pack to plug it in a couple of hours before we want to load the food. The refrigerator in our camper takes from 6 hours to a full day to cool down. When we arrive at the camp ground, we plug this in and work out of the cooler for the first day. This power supply gives us the flexibility that we need, since you can't keep it plugged into the truck for very long when it's turned off.

I do not trust this item. The very first time i plugged it up, It began to belch out smoke, putrid smoke. If it wasn't for the fact that i only paid 66 cents for it i would seek to get my money back
