Since its foundation in 1930, CITIZEN has promoted a multi-cultural mindset that fosters excellence and creativity. The very name of the brand conveys a deep respect toward craftsmanship and considered as familiar by citizens the world-over. So as a “citizen” of the world, we bear the responsibility to help cultivate a culture of positive change and on-going evolution through our craft. We take that mission seriously and steadfastly welcome what the future may bring. As a true manufacture d’horlogerie, CITIZEN integrates a comprehensive manufacturing process from creating individual components to a watch’s final assembly. It’s an artisan’s approach to watch making based on pushing forward the boundaries of technology and leveraging our experience toward exploring new possibilities. One pivotal technological breakthrough was the development of a light-driven watch. CITIZEN pioneered this engineering innovation well ahead of other watch manufacturers as early as 1976, which led to the launch of the highly acclaimed Eco-Drive in 1995. Utilizing electrical power converted from virtually any light source, this extraordinary innovation changed forever the way watches could be powered. Eco-Drive eliminated the need to ever replace batteries, which made it especially beneficial to areas where such specialist batteries were not obtainable. This leveled the field for citizens of virtually every country to be able to experience unrestricted joy of wearing and using a CITIZEN watch. The product development policy, “The Fusion of Technology and Beauty,” remains a constant motivation for us to merge cutting-edge technology with perfection of design beauty, which as a consequence inspires people to strive to be their best at any time. CITIZEN launches a new campaign in collaboration with Wieden+Kennedy, Better Starts Now. This is the simple belief that no matter who you are or what you do, it is always possible to make something better — and now is the time to start doing it. We believe that better and now are both infinite, and that there is always a next ‘better’ and a new ‘now’ in which you can start pursuing it. It was clear from the onset of this project that we are dedicated to this ideal…not to the past but to the present, and all the way we can improve it. To help communicate this belief to the world we have created a new global CITIZEN brand movie, brand identity and brand website that represents out Better Starts Now philosophy. Bold, aggressive, and dimensional, Citizen introduces its newest timepiece within the World Time A-T family. Featuring atomic timekeeping technology with synchronized time adjustment available in 26 time zones. Black ion-plated rotating bezel. perpetual calendar, dual time 12/24-hour time, alarm and power reserve are also added features to this upgraded timepiece.

Great watch - but heavy
I really like this watch! I love that it's solar-charged (Citizen Eco-Drive) and it is synchronized to the atomic time signal out of Colorado, so that the time is extremely accurate. I also like that you can see the battery charge level when you push the lower button. The watch looks very impressive; I really like the watch face, and I also like the way the buttons and crown look. The silver-colored band contrasts well with the watch face.I agree with another reviewer when he wrote that it's hard to determine how to properly set the watch to handle daylight savings time. I THINK I've got it figured out (by setting the watch to SMT-AU), but I won't know for sure until we go back to standard time in a few weeks. The only negative about this watch is that it's much heavier than my other watches. The case is stainless steel, not titanium, and therefore there is a weight penalty. Still, as long as you have the watch properly fitted at a jeweler, there really isn't a problem.I really enjoy wearing this watch every day!

Nice looking Watch but hard to figure out how it ...
Nice looking Watch but hard to figure out how it works, powered by light, so had to put it so many hours next to the window and leave it for the day and yet not fully charged. I like how it looks, but I’m returning it.

Love it!
I have been wearing this watch almost everyday since I received. I wear it to work and then when I am out on the town. I have gotten lots of compliments on the watch and everyone wants to know what it is. I like the weight of the watch. It has been pretty scratch resistant and I often forget I am evening wearing it. With the radio controlled world time I never have to worry about my watch not being correct. You will enjoy this watch!

Looks and works great. The radio sync ability works as expected
Looks and works great. The radio sync ability works as expected, in the situations I have been in areas without reception I am able to easily get it to manually sync by two key presses. I have been searching for a watch in the last few months and I have to say that this is a great watch. I recommend this watch.

the good. It runs on solar power
This is my first Citizen radio watch. My first radio watch was a Casio, and it was ok, except it was very bulky and made mostly of plastic and rubber. This AT9 watch is heavy, large, and bulky, but I suppose its the price you pay for a watch that is 100% accurate with worldtime functionality.First, the good.It runs on solar power, so you don't need to change the battery until maybe 15-20 years down the road, or the watch gets lost, stolen, or destroyed, whichever comes first. The radio receive function works well, and doesn't use up a lot of charge. Manually receiving a signal works pretty well. I usually get a signal a few minutes after starting the process. It has a perpetual calendar, so no more having to advance a day on months with 30 days (and February). The second hand lines up with the second markers exactly. It has functions for DST, an alarm, TWO separate 24hr clocks, M-F indicator, and battery status indicator. As for worldtime function, it has cities and UTC numbers along the bezel, so if you know either, you can easily set the time zone and have correct time, plus an ability to switch the *here time* with the *over there* time with the press of two buttons simultaneously. It has updated styling with tick marks on the hour locations rather than cut-up arabic numerals like the previous generation of AT9's. 22mm lugs make finding aftermarket straps easy, and a sapphire glass makes it more durable than mineral glassNow the bad. It's heavy, wide, and tall. Those are the three qualities I really don't like in a watch, especially tall, which contributes to accidental hits and bumps. Probably can't be helped, because the radio function combined with all the electronics and advanced motors make for a big, heavy, and tall watch. The Monday - Friday indicator is backwards. It *looks* Friday through Monday , with an arrow that moves from right to left. Perfect for markets where people read from right to left, which is not where I live (USA).The 24hr clock on the far left is not marked daylight as 6:00AM to 6:00PM, like on a Rolex GMT Master, but from 12:00AM to 12:00PM. Takes some getting used to, but I always remember daylight somewhere from 6 to 6, rather than from 12 to 12. The 24hr clock on the bottom of the face is hard to read, because there's a minute hand associated, and I keep thinking its a 12hr clock rather than a 24hr clock. My guess is its there for the alarm feature, which is very weak sounding and useless. I'd rather have a 12hr clock and no alarm than a 24hr clock and an alarm I'll never use.DST feature is not easy to understand in the manual. there are two settings for automatic, and two settings for manual mode, for a total of four modes, and makes for a confusing read. Even now I'm not quite sure the differences between the two auto settings. As far as styling, I think its an improvement over the older model that had chopped off arabic numerals, but this one has a chopped off tick mark at 3:00, 6:00, 11:00, and 1:00, where there needn't be if they just took the time to design the face a little better. It has a mix of brushed and polished steel, with some unfinished parts on the inside of the lugs. The band is just ok, using two push button clamps on a pin to hold together. I'm not all that comfortable with the black coating on the bezel, only time will tell how well the bezel holds up against scratching and banging against things, which it will because its such a tall watch.I may be nitpicking at all this, (and it is a pretty good watch overall), but for the price, and features, its held back a bit from being an awesome watch. It's the subtleties that matter.Overall, a decent watch for people who want a super accurate, and are willing to deal with heavy weight, a big bezel, and a tall case.

Based on price/features.
I'm giving this a 5 star rating on what the watches value to cost ratio is for me. I actually really like this watch. I have been searching for about 2 months for a stainless, solar gshock watch. I have a few G Steel watches, but not this feature packed. I actually snagged this watch for $200 brand new with tags at a local store, and at that price, this watch is everything I was looking for. So much so, I bought 2. There's a video on citizens website that shows you exactly how to set this watch up.

Good or disappointment?
Great looking watch. I returned it and waiting for replacement, every time I receive a signal, calendar date goes 5 days ahead. Also, just for wearing on my wrist, calendar date is moving a little up and down.I hope the replacement unit will be okay or I need to choose another model or another brand.

A very attractive watch and easily set with the help of the short video
A very attractive watch and easily set with the help of the short video. It can be difficult to see the caliber code on the watch itself. It would be helpful if the caliber code could be included with the documentation.
