Stabilizing Support
about a dozen years ago I bought this same brace locally for a sprained ankle... which I have a knack for and have done several times since -- the old brace is still in great shape, even the original shoe strings are on it (McDavid = well made)... currently I have a still recovering sprained ankle AND a flared up achilles tendon on the good foot along with plantar fascitis on both! Being overweight is probably making matters worse (but then how do you excersize when your feet/ankles are blown out? = enter a PAIR of braces!!) - because both feet have issues, and my back can easily go out of alignment if I don't keep things balanced - I ordered a 2nd "identical" brace so both feet would have same support - this has been VERY helpful in the healing process and has helped keep me balanced and stable when I walk. The new brace and the old brace are almost 100% identical - including how they both needed a bit of SPENCO 2ND SKIN BLISTER CARE 3'' X 6 1/2'' 2 per BOX adhesive padding added at the openings around the foot (available here on Amazon, make sure to add to your order) -once that is on they are comfy. The brace has removable inserts for when you might only need a mild amount of support, but with the inserts in there is a great amount of support while still allowing you to walk like a normal person. Lace up is so much better then neoprene and velcro styles, as you can adjust were and how tight the fit is around the foot, ankle and above the ankle... You know you have a good brace when there is immediate pain relief and you find yourself on your feet more and more while wearing it!!

As advertised
This is a really stable ankle support (even without the the plastic inserts). the lace keeps the brace tight and prevents your ankle from tweaking during awkward landings. i don't recommend playing right after an ankle sprain but if you want to play ball while recovering from an ankle sprain, this would provide the support you need. if you have generally weak ankles, of course, i would still recommend ankle strengthening but this is far better than the ankle sleeves. i am size 10 and i wear size 11 basketball shoes. i ordered small and it fits perfectly. i have mine for 3 years now and still going...

This is an excellent ankle brace
This is an excellent ankle brace. It provides good support and a snug fit for my injured ankle. It is made of lightweight material for comfort and has inserts on each side for extra protection. I would also say it is true to your shoe size.

Fit well as a large. The sizing was not exact, I have a 9.5 foot which called for a medium but that was too tight. So I got the next larger size, the large and it fit well so be advised.

Good brace
Good brace. I took plastic inserts out as it was too stiff and uncomfortable with them. Without the inserts, brace was comfortable and gave good support.

Did it's job.
Worked perfectly. Needed a brace to immobilize my ankle. This on fit fine and did the job. Easy to put on, a bit harder to take it off.

I've heard great things so after spraining my ankle I thought I'd give it a shot but it was so painful I couldn't wear it after 30 minutes.

Perfect for basketball players
Good quality for basketball players with weak ankles, supports the ankle well. I purchased two of these, one for both feet, and my son loves them.
