Nice Jig
This Jig fits perfectly on my Harbor Freight 1.3 inch sander. So far it fits perfectly and does the job well I attempted to sharpen a dull pocket knife and it worked flawlessly. This is the an excellent accessory for the harbor Freight sander for the amateur knife sharpeningng enthusiast. This jig combined with a few belts and a leather strop work wonders. I have tried many sharpening Solutions but this is the one I feel most confident with. Yes my technique will take some time but I can tell right away that this is going to serve my purposes. I am very pleased with my purchase. Other reviews spoke of having to adjust the jig or modify it in some way. Personally I have not had any issues and it fit the first time. This is not a Precision instrument but it will give me a relatively tight tolerance so that I can get very close in consistency while sharpeningning my blades.

Broke Before First Use >.<
I was really excited about this because I've been sharpening all of my knives free-free hand on a bench grinder and, this Christmas, I ordered this guide and a new Grizzly 1x30" belt sander. I really wanted to see how even my bevels came out with the new grinder and guide. After assembling the sander, the last step was to attach the angle guide and I would be ready to go. Sadly, the spring clip was just too brittle and cracked off when I attempted to slide it on the sander. I'm hoping this was just a "one-off" manufacturing defect and I'll update this once I hear back on getting a replacement and have a chance to actually use one. For now, here are some pictures of what broke:

Worthless
I use the Harbor Freight belt sander and 600/800/1000 leather strop belt to sharpen my kitchen cutlery and my EDC knife. While this does a great job of holding the blade at a specific angle, it is pushing the belt into the blade instead of away from it. This creates a large amount of chatter and despite changing my grip, pressure, etc., the chatter would not improve. I tried to work through it hoping against hope his would work. It doesn't. It horribly dulled my EDC. So, I went back to holding it free hand and guiding it as I did having to take a few extra passes to remove the damage done by this tool and returning it to razor sharp. There is only one way to mount this and as such, it mounts upside down from how it should. If they simply flipped the mounting spring it would be a great product. Until they do you're much better off with a steady hand. Stay away.

Needs some work
The gauge of steel, fit, and finish are fine in this unite with one major exception. The bend of the base is off just a bit, but it's enough to keep the unit from being usable at all without some modification. I either need to grind part of it down or modify the bend. Notice in the pic how one side of the guide is pressing on the base. That leaves no room for the sanding belt. One side leaves a bit of clearance. A combo square measurement verified the base was just slightly not square with the guide.12/28/2016 UPDATE. Bendimg into shape took only a few minutes. It snapped right into place on my HFT sander but the sandpaper still would not fit in the gap. So I took it apart and sanded a bevel in the angle gauge part. It all works now. It's solid so I will bump up the stars one but I shouldn't have to go through this much work on a $30 item. For $30 I was hoping this would be plug and play. I would NOT recommend getting this unless you want to spend $30 on a 90% solution. I was trying to avoid having to make a similar jig when I bought this one.

AMAZING !
This guide fits the Harbor Freight 61728 and 60543 1 x 30 inch belt sanders. I sharpened several nicked and dull vintage knives and it worked flawlessly. I love accessories that make cheap tools rock...so this is a perfect add for the $42 (sale price) Harbor Freight belt sander. This guide and a few belts and a leather strop belt are the way to go. I have tried many stones and other sharpening methods; this one blows all those away. For what I have spent on specialized water stones, I should have just gone this way (belt sander and guide) in the first place - would have been WAY cheaper.Bottom Line - This makes knife sharpening very FUN!My technique has improved quickly, and I am very pleased with this purchase. I have done some amazing things with this already. There are some mods that others do; I have not had any issues and it fit right out of the box. I am bewildered at the one and two star reviews---crazy.

Knew it placed the blade the wrong way but figured I could make it work.
So when using this on a belt sander the belt should move away from the blade. I knew this but figured I could mount it and flip the angle guide over. For a very long knife this will work ok but for most anything else it won't. I ended up just doing it freehand and having it work great though I may make some wood blocks that will rest on the table and allow me to set the blade in place and hold the correct angle perfectly. Trying to use this as designed just ended up tearing up a belt needlessly.

Very solid well made.
Just right for my Harbor Freight 1x30 in belt sander. The 1 in.backing platen on the sander needs to be adjusted and aligned for correct installation and operation of the belt, it just takes a few minutes to install correctly.I leave it on the sander all the time,no need to remove it when using the sander for regular use.Just remove the angle attachment guide when not using it to sharpen knives or blades,it also makes the backing platen stronger .Great little device, well worth the ten dollar cost.I think it's made in the USA from the construction.Up date: From reading the low ratings of the angle guide from other users it appears like they don't how it works and don't know how or take the time to install it correctly.May be if a simple pictorial instruction was included they might be able to install it correctly, even as a simple installation that it is. It may be difficult for some.

Knife makers and sharpeners be warned..
Okay so it can work, but it requires a lot of time modifying it to make it work the way it's intended. When I try to sharpen at a 12-15 degree angle the blade comes off the angled rest before it touches the belt, which defeats the purpose. Unless you are using wide knives life a chef's knife or a machete this won't be effective. I recommend going with the work sharp product if you are looking for a sharpening tool/machine.

Excellent.
I do a lot of restorations and customisation of knives, so having this makes grinding bevels a lot easier than doing them by eye alone. It's not perfect and there is still much work to do to get a blade properly finished, but it certainly makes the initial grinding easier.

No good
The product is almost worthless. You can sharpen only chef's knifes or wide knive. Once you try to put a naroww knife on the angled platform you cannot achieve desired angle!

Doesn’t work well with a narrow blade
Little spendy to buy by itself, I’d opt to buy it in a kit with some belts. Works ok, meant for wider blades. Can still be used for smaller pocket knives but care must taken to ensure angles don’t change. Some easy modifications made this much better to use
