installation is not easy, performance gain is a lot more than expected
The performance: I bought this product as it is one of the most recommended intake upgrades for my vstar 650. I did not rejet the bike with the parts included in the kit but I rejetted the bike according to 650ccnd recommendations. 4th notch on the dynojet adjustable needles, 125 mikuni mains, stock pilots and 3.5 turns on the pms and also my ais is disabled. With this configuration the bike seems to run great. I tested the bike on the highway and I managed to get the bike to 120 kmh/ 75 mph uphill on the 4th gear. I could never do that with a stock intake. I can cruise on the highway with 70 mph all day without any problems on the 5th gear. And believe me, bike is less revving with this intake than it did with a stock intake. In the city, once you twist the throttle the bike responds almost instanteanously and it accelerates way better than it did with a stock intake.Installation: Wow.. It was harder than I thought it would be. Connecting the middle rubber to the hypercharger unit was a real PITA. squeezing those black screws through the rubber and screwing them to the nuts at the back of the bracket was really annoying.Overall: The unit looks great on the bike, certainly added some cool factor to it. Besides the looks, combined with the correct jetting it also improved the throttle response, acceleration and top speed. it did slightly improve the sound too. Would I buy it again?Absolutely yes for my bike!!! but it would be great to install it easier than it is.

I am so glad I did
I remember I spent a long time deciding whether or not I wanted to buy this. I am so glad I did! If you do it right, this is one of the best performance modifications you can have. I also decided to put it on myself. I don't recommend the average Joe doing this because it requires some advanced mechanical work, like re-jetting a carburetor, drilling into the carburetor, cutting vacuum lines, and adjusting your fuel/air mixture. There is no shame in taking your bike to a dealer, assuming you have that kind of money. I did a lot of homework before I started this project. There are quite a bit of reviews out there talking about how finicky this air filter can be. So if you decide this is something you want, make sure you know exactly what accessories you want to use(by accessories, I mean pilot jet screws, carb needles, bike manuals, etc.). The Hypergcharger comes with a rejet kit, but it’s up to you to decide which items in the kit will work best on your motorcycle.Once I installed the hypercharger, I noticed a significant increase in performance. My Vulcan 800 runs great. I haven't experienced any head wind, or hesitation. It just runs smooth. The stock air box restricts the amount of air that flows into the carburetor. The supplied K&M air filter, along with this hypercharger, allows more air to be available. It also looks great! The butterflies operate by connecting them into the motorcycle's vacuum system. So do your homework, do some research, and you will have an awesome performance mod!

Nice addition to my motorcycle
I did not install this myself, took it to the shop to have it done, but was told it was an easy install. The price I paid here was the norm I found on other sites, so its not a better value its just the ease of dealing with Amazon that helps, It has added about 9% to 10% to my horsepower to my Yamaha V-Star so that is nice, plus it just looks so much better than the factory air filter setup. Cannot speak for all but it does not interfere with my right leg and getting to the break, I was concerned about this since some reviews mentioned it.

Great look with even greater performance!
Excellent intake upgrade for my V-star. Installation was pretty easy as long as you aren't afraid to turn a wrench on your own bike. Definitely feel an increase in overall power, especially when coupled with an aftermarket exhaust. I used the Cobra Speedster Slashdowns. This kit does require rejetting the carbs, which I decided to let the mechanic do, as carbs can be finicky and even small adjustments can make a huge difference. The jet kit that came with the kit had most of the right parts, except the main jets, which the mechanic said he had to go bigger and bigger in order to eliminate excessive backfiring, and that was even after deleting the AIS system from the bike. All that being said, for an intake that looks cool, and adds performance and power, this was perfect for me.
