Conair True Glow - Acne
Conair's True Glow Light Therapy Solution (Blue) is designed to help clear the skin of acne. It's important to note that this is for mild to moderate acne. If you have severe acne, though the light may be helpful, you should go to a dermatologist for solutions. Severe acne can result in low self esteem and physical problems including scarring--so get professional help. The Conair Light Solution can help mild-moderate cases with the LED lights. These lights target the bacteria which causes acne. The blue lights kill off the bacteria that causes acne and the heat helps shrink the oil glands. So the light therapy is effective in the prevention of new lesions and resolving the ones you have.It takes time to see results with blue light therapy because the life cycle of a pimple is about eight weeks. So the acne you are seeing now was forming weeks ago and it will take time to resolve it. Blue Light Therapy is a proven tool to add to your arsenal. The Conair True Glow is easy to use but it does take time to cover a wide area of space. The tool can be plugged in or handheld. Blue Light Therapy is proven for acne. If you are willing to take time with it, this tool may help you.

It worked for my condition! Your mileage may vary depending on your own condition.
I've given the Conair True Glow Light Therapy five stars, but I want to emphasize that this is based on my own experience and when it comes to something that is as personal as a medical condition your mileage may vary.I've had two doctors diagnose me with rosacea caused acne. It was never severe, but it was certainly embarrassing. For a long time I used what's known as Metro gel. However, it inexplicably just stopped working. This had gone on for at least half a year and I was feeling desperate. Then summer came and I noticed that direct exposure to direct sunlight definitely helped - more than the Metro gel. And then I tried this light therapy device. The healing time was astonishing given that I had just spent the last six months struggling with this condition.I don't want to make a blanket statement that anyone should try this. However, my experience tells me that if your acne responds well to direct sunlight and/or you have rosacea caused acne that you should give this a try. I can't speak to other types of conditions and I wouldn't want to make a recommendation to just anyone with an acne problem. From what I've seen in other reviews this device is not going to work for all people and this should not be a surprise as everyone's medical condition is going to be somewhat different. But for me, this is a five star product and has suddenly made my life better.

No Self Timer - Large Light Area
This is the second light therapy unit I have used: the first was a less expensive small model which points to only one pimple and has a 2 minute timer with automatic shutoff. The difference with this is the large light size. It has 24 bulbs and I'm estimating the light portion is 2 inches wide by 2.5 inches long. The pro is you can do the whole face or parts of the face easily with this. I am rating it 4 stars = I Like It instead of 5 for the following reasons: 1) They advise you must wear the eye goggles which are painful and totally block out your view so you can't see what you are doing; 2) There is no automatic shut off after the right amount of time; 3) It says use for a minimum of 3 minutes but it does not explain why more than 3 is needed, if it should be 4, 5 or what. As I said the other unit I own is an autotimer of 2 minutes only. They also advise to use your own timer to let you know when to stop. This works on the principal that a pimple is a small infection and by using ultraviolet light the bacteria are killed thus speeding up the treatment and doing this without the aid of antibiotic medicine whether topical or in oral pill form. This also allows the avoidance of harsh chemical cleansers and over the counter or prescription creams that can extremely dry out the skin and cause flaking. So, I like the idea of a non-prescription, no pill, no antibiotic treatment for simple pimples, bad teen acne or even cystic acne.

Lacks some needed features; limited effectiveness
While overall I’m not thrilled with this product, there are some pluses. It is very easy to use – just turn it on, hold it over the area you want to treat on your face with the lights about 1/4 inch away from your face, and hold it there for three minutes. Can’t get any easier than that!I also like that it has three options for power: battery, USB cord power, or a plug-in adapter. It comes with the USB cord and adapter; it does not include batteries. I’ve been using it with the plug-in adapter and it has been great. The cord is long enough to be useful without getting all tangled up. Plus, if needed, you can also use a longer USB cord since it’s a standard micro USB.The build quality is so-so. It’s all plastic, and the housing feels rather cheap, and creaks when you press the on button. The micro USB port on the device wiggles and I don’t have much confidence that it will stand up to long-term use (e.g., lots of plugging/unplugging). I leave that end of the cord attached and unplug the other end to avoid stressing the weak USB port.It lacks a timer, which seems to be a major omission. It would have been simple to have it automatically shut off after 3 minutes to avoid having to set a timer or look at the clock. A built-in timer would greatly increase usage convenience. The included goggles are very uncomfortable to wear and make it hard to see the clock to know when the 3 minutes is up.But the bottom line is effectiveness since, if it works, it’s worth getting. However, effectiveness for me has been minor. There seems to be a small amount of acne clearing, but it’s hard to tell. It certainly is not a dramatic difference. The limited benefits, coupled with the build quality issues and lack of a timer, makes me rate this as a below average value given the price point. It’s not a product I would recommend.
